I think they just interpret information differently. Like he straight up said, are you dense or stubborn, because for some reason the other guy is convinced he has to pay him back with his body despite him saying multiple times that’s not his intention nor his goal. I think he’s just really casual/straightforward, and when you’re used to dishonesty (which our poor guy - haha both money and sympathy wise - is), you read most everyone through a lens of having a secret agenda. I’ve seen the raws, not read them, but I still haven’t seen anything that suggests he has some evil plan or massive secret.
I think Mafuyu genuinely holds deep affection for both Ue and his previous relationship with Yuki. There’s this quote that I’ve always really loved that’s basically, “grief is love that has nowhere to go.” Ue has been, and will continue to be, a meaningful outlet for Mafuyu to explore his feelings of grief safely, though painfully and not without complications. It’s understandable that everyone involved is struggling through this because some things you just have to struggle through - it’s not a slight to those around you. I think the mangaka does a wonderful job of showcasing these seemingly contradictions. With that said, I highly doubt we’ll ever see Yuki’s last moments from his perspective. I think we’re not meant to know, only infer and sit with so far in as we’re able, just as the rest of the characters have to.
I know this might be tedious, but I’m overwhelmed with all the deaths and major injuries (Nanamin, Nobara, Toge to name a few ) - so does anyone have a list of everyone ostensibly good/not a cursed spirit aligned with destroying humanity who has died or suffered major injuries? Bonus points for chapter it happened it. I’m just trying to get a hold on things!
I haven't found raws, but the second volume of this is available on Japan's Amazon, and the reviews there are probably pretty revealing, so spoiler alert: http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%91%E3%83%A9%E3%83%80%E3%82%A4%E3%82%B9%E3%83%BB%E3%83%93%E3%83%A5%E3%83%BC-%E3%83%93%E3%83%BC%E3%83%9C%E3%83%BC%E3%82%A4%E3%82%B3%E3%83%9F%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF%E3%82%B9%E3%83%87%E3%83%A9%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF%E3%82%B9-%E3%83%93%E3%83%BC%E3%83%9C%E3%83%BC%E3%82%A4%E3%82%B3%E3%83%9F%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF%E3%82%B9DX-%E5%B0%8F%E5%B6%8B-%E3%83%A9%E3%83%A9%E5%AD%90/dp/4799724924/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8
I have only average Japanese skills, so I couldn't translate much. But if anyone else has better reading/translation skills and would like to glean something from the reviews, I'm sure that would be much appreciated.
Either way, when you see the covers of both volumes side by side, I feel like they suggest the overall story will have a happy ending. I could be wrong though. My guess is that volume one, the chapters we're currently reading, is from the teacher's point of view (duh, but also because the volume cover is of him), and volume two is from the doctor's point of view (since he's the cover of that volume). This would explain the foreboding, end-is-near tone, from the professor. He only has the first half (or first volume of the story), so from his point of view everything is going poorly. But then second volume would pick up with the doctor and he would supply the solutions and happy ending from his point of view.
I also could be completely wrong. Wah wah.
like I obviously know taehwan has a lot of unhealthy behaviors, most stemming from his internalized homophobia and childhood trauma, but I can’t help but root for him! healthy relationships are a container for joy and growth, and I feel like he could have that with yeonwoo but after the most recent raws, I have no idea how much longer it’ll be until he gets to that point, if he even gets there. I feel it’s unlikely yeonwoo will end up with Alex given everything, but even if he doesn’t it’s still going to be a while before he ends up with taehwan. so I guess I’ll take a lil break because my stress is through the roof with this
