I think she is so attached to Art is because he's the only kid her age who just treated her as person and not a princess. First he saves her life, then he becomes her first real friend, and then they train together for years, together every single day. Then suddenly, one day, he's gone. But worse the. that he is off to make more friends and be free while she goes back to being a princess. No friends. No freedom to go and do as she likes. She's just got a little orb to watch her only friend be happy through.
