I don't mind shonen ai! Its just when it's straight the surrounding don't really joke when they say the two should get together and I like the "we have a secret" vibe (>~<)

I see, i liked the concept of long term besties becoming lovers and that one was my first so maybe thats why i liked it. I recommend you try it again but if it still gets boring then you could drop it heh ^^
