Re-explaining why the new art looks "awful" since people still want to hate on it.

The old artist preferred work with colour, the new artist prefers to work with line and shape. Artstyles can tell you a lot about the artist, and to me it's very apparent that each artist prefers a different part of the process. The old artist seems to prefer colouring and shading, whereas the new artist prefers lineart.

Neither artstyle is objectively bad, and neither is objectively better than the other.

It's just that the old artist had very bland, simple lineart, because he needed to save time in order to do gradients and shade properly, since he does soft-shading a lot more.

The new artist doesn't need to do soft-shading, nor do they have the time, because they put a lot more effort into their lineart. The lineart varies in weight a lot more, and they use harsher colours, which also adds a lot more contrast in comparison to the older art, where everything is a lot more blended and lighter.

Instead of soft-shading, the new artist uses a lot more harsher shadows, that tend to follow the lineart. Styles with heavy lineart and flatter colours are actually better for action-oriented comics because the shape and direction of movement tends to be a lot easier to follow in fight scenes.

It's so jarring because the old artist tended to paint in a way the blended everything together, which isn't bad. It just gives this sense of "everything belongs together".

The new artist, however, prefers clarity and tries to make each thing distinct from each other (again, not a bad thing). They also work with values a lot more, and there's more contrast., hence why the colours looks so different.

Yeah, that's it. It's really that simple.

I honestly don’t mind the change, but I’ve been trying to pinpoint exactly why it looked so different but compilar at the same time, so thank you.

I noticed the difference a lot, but I've been getting used to it, even tho some things still annoy me in the new art, like the way certain emotions are "drawn" in the characters, it kind of feels off sometimes, I normally do the voices of the characters in my head while I'm reading and it's annoying when you notice that a specific scene was supposed to be more dramatic. Like in the last chapter that the MC arrives all hurt. Although I haven't read the novel, I bet it describes how Arthur is and I don't feel like the new artist expressed that well enough, I 'm missing like a more detailed image of him hurt on the floor and of panic on Silvie's face, probably because of the shading you were talking about, because shading and the way you use color changes the expressions a lot. Also I wish they made it more dramatic when the elf appears (at this moment I have forgotten her name, I don't know why xD), like they show her in like the corner in the darkness or like with more shading make it more dramatic. Also I don't know how they described the new enemy in the novel, but I feel like she doesn't look scary enough or something

Seriously, looking back at the older chapters DAMN everyone got yaoi-fied. Vercy used be more of a twink than Sunwon.

Any stories that tackle the concept of gods in general? Like pose skeptic questions and shit/have characters that are atheists, doubt the existence of gods.

For example, if you catch my drift:

I'll take recs where the MC is a god/goddess though!

Does anybody know any stories with a gyaru and/or gyaruo character that ISN'T just tan and blonde hair, and maybe some animal print.

I want the full shabang. I want the character to fully embody the lifestyle, the make-up, be aware they're a gyaru and actually identify as such etc. I'd also smother someone with kisses if it had characters of other substyles we don't usually see (Hime, Manba, Rokku, etc.)

NO straight up smut, but it can be PWP if it's BL. I'd prefer Slice of Life/Romance tho.
