How do you use the rating system on an individual/personal approach?
Ratings are important to me, cause I enjoy revisiting things I’ve read before. I found that this approach the most helpful, instead of being a critic, without thinking too hard lol
: there’s something that I hate about this
: there’s something I dislike about this
: rather neutral, mixed bag, unsure, meh
: there’s something that I like about this
:there’s something I love about this
Really want a zero for killing recs, and 6 star for boosting recommendations.
For me, I definitely don’t think I’m doing it right but I typically just do 5 star ratings for the boosting recommendations. The jump between 4 and 5 stars seems too drastic for me, with 5 stars basically rating it a 10.0 and 4 stars rating it a 8.0, so I typically leave my normal 4 star ones with no rating to not drop the rating if that makes sense. I only rate 4 stars if I really do think they are like a 8.0 rating, but overall, I usually do 5 star or no rating. Very rarely do I do anything below that because I probably dropped it before even getting that deep into it.
It’s not the worst approach either because when going back and looking at my lists, I know which ones that stood out to me and really enjoyed because they made me want to boost them and give them a 5 star rating :D
I love this site, like genuinely, I live here.
But just because I enjoy something doesn’t mean it can’t be better!
I want a fourth button, after reading, read, and want to read.
Desperately I want a skip button??? Or a pass button??? Banished??? or a ive read the summary and I don’t want to have to read it again cause I have a goldfish brain and pretty covers clickbait me repeatedly???
So I want a section that I can just- call it the shadow realm button. I’m sure some sick fucks would love to see what sick fucks banish to the shadow realm, even better once you banish something it doesn’t return to the recommended for you.
What other features are y’all daydreaming between scrolling?
Sort by rating, sort by manga/manhwa/manhua (I know we have the sort webtoons for now), better tagging or reviewed trigger warnings, starring and accessing favorites. Also I know the site is recovering from being broken, but the categories (yaoi stories in shounen ai category for example) and marking stories as ongoing/completed need to be better maintained.
I didn’t want to send this as reply but someone was ickd by the display of racism in this, but and so-
Since it’s not official translations and it’s not complete I don’t want to put my foot in my mouth, but so far I would say from the context of this story it’s well written racism.
Seeing the tribe’s lifestyle and attitude it’s like so obviously more welcoming and peaceful than the kingdom. 100% -these frenchies calling the tribes barbaric is PROJECTION. Just like real life!!!!
It’s actually so realistic that it made me happy for once??? Indigenous people of America visited Europe not long after the initial settler colonies and were absolutely appalled, like “why are there so many poor people???? Why do you have to worship a king that does evil??? Do you not take care of the elderly, the sick, and the disabled?”
They went back home and told there people to be wary of these so called “civilized” nations.
Colonizers to indigenous peoples: you don’t have permanent housing???? Wow you’re so backwards
Indigenous peoples: we’ve made housing like that before but it’s inconvenient and bad for the environment and the environment is important, like really important like if you don’t change the way you treat the environment it’ll kill ya.
Europeans: wow you’re so savage
Indigenous : ….. your descendants will disparage you, and turn to us when the world falls apart.
Settlers descendants of Europe: it’s true. Climate crisis is here and now we have to undo Settler Colonialism, and create an ecological minded society. Study Youth and Queer Liberation, Disability Justice, and Abolition!
Remember kids while it’s fun to read gay shit, you gotta decolonize your hearts and minds too!
