I mean, he went through hell, so I can't blame him for putting his own freedom first. But as a reader I would be uncomfortable if, once the story develops and they get together, they don't even try to abolish slavery. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
I don't know how much political power our little Duke has, but that coupled with his own good looks should at least be enough to make people start considering it. But that could also put him in a dangerous position, something like the king or a powerful noble wanting to sleep with him in return for pushing for abolition.
Which I hope it won't happen. The nobles at that party were really creepy. It makes me wonder if the Duke is the way he is (dead inside, numb to what's happening around him and wandering around as if he is in a dream) because he was abused by someone ┗( T﹏T )┛ I hope not! Btw, that butler of his gives me the creeps (￣∇￣")
On another note, if all the pel are so obsessed with beauty, even if Dev gets his freedom he would most likely run into some crazy one at some point who would do anything to get him in their bed.
So long term it would be safer to stay with the Duke, who don't seem to care about Dev's looks or want to keep him as a slave. Or at least don't seem to care right now. Things might change once they get together.

True! Thankfully most people in their world can see how shitty he is, so he will be punished properly. I kinda feel bad for his brother, who never wanted to be king and will be forced to do it. And at least Sei was treated well by everyone other than the shitty Prince.
This one is actually more similar to the white cat one. Both have a delusional and obsessed with our FL other reincarnated girl. And a FL who was banished, taken for dead and wants revenge. But Ruri is too nice and doesn't want to risk hurting innocents. Anise (I think that's her name?) don't seem like the forgiving type. Though I can't be certain, considering the first scene. I seems like she will come back to reclaim her rightful place as the real saintess at some point. I guess we'll wait and see ╮(￣▽￣)╭
Damn. She really an amazing strategist. In the same move she managed to:
- make it to the news as the Arch Duke's beloved fiancée
- make Cedric a even bigger hero
- damage the support to Grand Duke Roygar
- take away one of Roygar's sources of income
- threaten the Marchioness who supports Roygar and controls his wife
- improve her own reputation among Cedric's followers
- bring down the human trafficking ring
- make Cedric see how rotten the nobles are
- make Cedric start to realize that in order to protect the empire and it's people, he must become emperor. After all, the other candidates suck and the current emperor is not much better.
And we haven't seen it all yet!

Ok, so Dev's goal is to find his mother and sister. And he is willing to do anything to do it. Plan A (seducing the Duke) failed.
Maybe asking for help could work...? Or not. The Duke doesn't seem to care much about the world around him. Not that Dev would ever ask. He doesn't trust the Pel (rightfully so) and his family is his weakness. They could easily be used against him. Let's see what plan B will be.
Btw, I'm still under the impression that the Duke has been abused somehow. The people around him are super creepy and the way he acts makes me think he is trying to escape reality by ignoring it.
(Spoiler) You are right about everything and yes the duke has been abused! Though as time goes by both him and the duke will start catching feelings for each other. Honestly both have suffered in different ways...
