Guys, I don't think this is the Crown Prince's doing. He wouldn't gain anything from this. My money is on the creepy Cardinal. I'll explain:
What the Crown Prince wants is Shuri's love. And the only way I can see him getting closer to her in this situation is if he solved the problem himself. But he clearly can't, otherwise he would already done it.
The other possible suspects are the Queen and that creepy Cardinal. The Queen seems to dislike Shuri because she looks like the King's first wife, the Crown Prince's mother. And that Cardinal seems to dislike her for her help with the Christmas budget (and maybe more - I read some really disturbing theories).
The Cardinal is a more likely culprit because:
1. A priest was conveniently there to show Jeremy the way.
2. The Crown Prince mentioned to the Cardinal that he was planning to take Shuri to the royal library
3. He looked way too happy with the news that Jeremy was in jail and that he would get the chance to make Shuri's life harder.
4. The Cardinal and the Crown Prince clearly don't get along and it's a good opportunity to rub the Crown Prince's own powerlessness in his face.
A reply I wrote on another comment, with some stuff I though of after this comment:
"I think there are bigger powers at play here. There was some suspicion going around that the church was embezzling funds in order to build a private army. Plus Shuri mentioned that a civil war was on it's way, that she intervened in the Christmas budget situation to delay that. But the Cardinal didn't like that, right?
Also the Cardinal and the Crown Prince don't get along at all. And the stupid Prince keeps talking about how much he likes Shuri in front of him. He even told him about his plans to take Shuri to the royal library! This would be a good opportunity to make the Prince, who keeps using his status to subdue the Cardinal, realize his own powerlessness.
And isn't it weird that there was a priest conveniently placed to help Jeremy get to the library? Plus he even told Jeremy to rush so that he could 'protect' Shuri. Which probably influenced Jeremy's judgement of what was happening. And if that area of the palace was completely empty, no guard in sight to help Jeremy while he was lost, how come they all got there so fast? And ready to arrest Jeremy to!
Plus I think the Cardinal was rather pleased with this situation. And he might be faking his surprise as well. That blond guy seemed to believe that the Church is good and that they are really committed to helping the commoners against the 'evil' nobles."
"He is so strong!" "He doesn't need me" YES HE IS! THANK YOU FOR NOTICING!
FINALLY! I was getting really frustrated seeing them ignore how powerful "Maestro" is. I mean, the guy has been taking out criminal organizations by himself FOR YEARS! It was really frustrating to see the author ignore their own God Ex Machina in favor of making the other dude save the day over and over again.
Let's see where this goes. Because if they go back to ignoring Kircher after this I'm dropping this story! ヽ(`Д´)ノ
I understand that her precognition power is not absolute, but what is the point of seeing the future if you are not gonna try to avoid the bad things?
While I understand that she believed that she needed to ignore Pryde to save the country, there are somethings that don't make sense:
1. Why did she make Pryde the Crown Princess in the original timeline if she knew she wasn't fit to rule? Why give Tiara the title already and avoid this mess altogether?
2. If she saw that Pryde would become a spoiled monster back when Pryde was still a baby, shouldn't the obvious conclusion be that she needed to be raised better? A person's personality is molded in their early childhood! And since neither of her parents were terrible people, there shouldn't be any bad genetic predisposition. Unless someone cheated.
3. Original!Pryde probably became a monster BECAUSE she was abandoned by her mother and left for the servants to raise. I bet that the Prime Minister had something to do with it. He seems to have an interest at making Tiara the queen. The reason why I have no idea.
Long story short, there are too many plot holes. ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍
Is she dumb? SHE IS ALREADY OFFICIALLY ENGAGED! SHE CAN'T GET ENGAGED TO THE PRINCE IF SHE IS ALREADY ENGAGED!
I understand after learning about the Prince's situation, since the Queen could force her to break her engagement. But before that? It makes no sense. Plus if these girls bought all those lies about Isabella and Ursch, this story about the mental condition of the royals might be fake as well.
┑( ̄Д ̄)┍
Ursch is waaay bellow her in status, so it would be an easy thing to break their engagement if a more favourable were to come up, e.g. the engagement to a prince. We've now learned that the MC's mother even used to be a princess. However, that would make the 2nd prince the MC's cousin, which would be a whole other issue in itself (at least for us readers).
They could be non blood related or at least have very little blood relation even if her mother was a princess. Its possible for dukes from other lines to become king or a dukes son or daughter become part of the main royal family in the case of an heir passing away or even things such as a duke sending their son or daughter away or even adoption. Honorary titles could also be given to people.
Look guys, I understand why you don't want any romance. But as a novel reader I would like to let you know that THE STORY WILL NOT FOCUS ON ROMANCE! SO CALM DOWN! I'm getting REALLY tired of seeing people hating on Cha Haein in the comments.
Yes, Cha Haein and Sung Jin-woo are end game, but they will have like 1 date and never talk about it again until after the battle finale. IT WILL BE FINE!
Plus there is no reason to hate on her! She is not "useless": she is strong and can hold her own in a dungeon. She is not sexualized as much as many other female characters in action/adventure/shonen stories like this one - thank all goodness. She is actually pretty cute, with the way she starts overthinking everything whenever Jin-woo is mentioned. She does have a personality besides liking the MC.
So I can't find any reason why you people are hating on her so much! Is it because she is taking your "husbando" away from you? Or is it because you are so used to hating women in action/adventure/shonen stories like this one that you don't even question it anymore?
He is such a cute rabbit! He could stay that way and no one would complain LOL But seriously, the art of this story is always gorgeous. And Melissa is always an example that should be followed by other MCs (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
