It's about the concept of being a Noble lady and being "pure"... We can see that this useless Duke Atlas STILL WANTS the FL even though she's married.. Surely, he knows she has been intimate with her HUSBAND but does not care...
... Anyway, what I am trying to say is that they use this Purity/virginity as a form of control for the ladies cause at the end of the day the boys do not care.
This goes to MOST AUTHORS who go out of their way to make their FL pure/virgin while the ML is always so abstract.
Before y'all come for me, THERE IS NOTHING wrong with being a virgin except when it is used as a weapon...
