I like the backstory of our ML. A necromancer who, unlike many necromancers in other stories, is actually a good guy that respects and cherishes the lives of good innocent people, especially children. I like Zaki's hair and coat but the school girl uniform feels really lazy. The mangaka could've done something to spice up that character design. Also, I'm confused as to why in Ch 3 Takumi is confused as to why Shinomiya rescued the kids but also treated Zaki's body like a rag doll. Did he just up and forget that Zaki was trying to kill Shinomiya? It really isn't that much of a stretch for someone to have no consideration for their attempted killer but to also turn around and be concerned about young innocent lives possibly burning to death in a house fire. Like come on babes, what's not clicking..

assuming u read way past ch3 by now, but tldr is that ml has a soft spot for kids bc he took care of some orphans after defecting from the empire. treating zaki's body the way he did...well, his morals is screwed due to several factors and he has come to treat human lives as playthings for him to manipulate their souls to his pleasing, the flesh is just what houses the soul. he gets better but he objectively sees all living life as something for him to control

The first chapter feels a bit rushed in the establishment of the motivation. It's Shonen, of course, but it also read a bit choppy, with odd forward momentum in some places, like a few pages or scenes were cut that would make the development of this character go from apathy to yearning actually feel like a logical conclusion. Main guy is quite stoic and then starts screaming about wanting to get married at some woman he doesn't know. Doesn't quite land.

This comic was so good but Sakamoto drastically changed the pace of the story. Instead of Jonathan slowly coming to terms that Dracula may not be how they appear as in the book, suddenly Jonathan is a prisoner because Dracula told him straight up "that story I told about Radu Tepes is about my younger brother and I was there 400 years ago. Also you're my prisoner now." It ruins whatever dread the original novel had of Jonathan growing increasingly suspicious and anxious regarding his stay at Dracula's castle. This Dracula doesn't even bother to give Jonathan a full what, 48 hours to carry the (mistaken) impression that they are even a tad normal, it's just straight to diabolical scheming and being evil. I understand the novel is long, but it's like Sakamoto didn't even try to truncate the story in a way that would be satisfying while keeping with the spirit of the original novel--that of creeping dread, mystery, and 'oh, I've made a huge mistake. How do I leave here without breaking etiquette AND tipping off Dracula I'm about to flee?" What a waste.

The art is fantastic, I love the time period, but something about how the plot unfolds feels a bit.. off-beat, like a paragraph on every page is missing. You can still understand what is happening, but it's missing that little extra that would make the story flow all the better. I was confused as to who the main character was supposed to be at first because the sister was granted the majority of the focus in the first chapter and the FL was introduced afterward. Typically you introduce your FL first, lest you confuse the reader as to who the primary love interest is. I understand it was an alternative means of introducing the FL -- characters speaking about her -- but again, a lot of discussion about her and a lot of the sister's problems being the main focus for the establishing chapter has somewhat set the tone of the story askew, because now I am left with this feeling like the FL is a supporting character in her own story.

No one gives a shit about your opinions about the comic. I read trash because I like trash. If you want to whine and complain about it, put a link to your twitter account no one will ever visit.

Ya'll been at it for decades with the "If you dont like it dont read it" personality. Anyone can read and finish it and still dislike it. Yall are like fetish porn nazis defending your kink.
What were talking about here are people who are actively supporting and disregarding rape, assault and non-con acts. Not just the idea of it on a fictional scale. So if you cant understand any of that then youre just too childish.
The epitome of "violent, crazy wacky shenanigans" that is a fast read but not a very fulfilling read, per se. Less put-together than Ijousha no Ai but still just as schlocky.
