Rifan will still be upset for a long while but they'll kind of make up along the way, then they finally arrive at the battlefield where maxi proves herself as a mage and saves everyone but uses all her magical energy and some of her life-foce or smth, and she'll be taken back to the capital where she rests at the princess' palace until her father comes to take her away with some bs excuse and Riftan let's him bcs he feels guilty for maxi suffering so much and believes she'll be happier with the father that supposedly spoils her.
The bitch of a father keeps her locked up against her will and tells both Riftan and her lies about neither of them being willing to reunite, but Maxi's sister does some sneaky stuff and Riftan witnessed Maxi being abused.
So yeah, still a bunch of stuff before he finds out, but it's worth it in my opinion
