Long story short, what happened is that when she died in the 1st life, Claude was really devastated that he shallowed the devil’s heart(which has powers over space & time) in order to give Ivona a 2nd chance to live. This is also the reason why his sword keeps rejecting him, it’s all because of the devil’s heart. btw don’t trust the temple they shady as f*ck.

Ok so on to the back story, in the past life during the war against the demons, the aristocrats didn’t want to go to the front lines & they kept complaining & muttered that since they have the duke, he should be enough. Since he was the owner of the sword & was he’d save the world. When Ivona heard it all, she was furious, and told them off saying he is also human. But she didn’t know that Claude heard her words. And ever since then, he became curious about her. Can’t remember much but around the time he got curious about her he was already falling for her. This part is the part that was shown already in one of the chapters about doing the experiment and going to war so I’m just kinda gonna skip that part. After the war ended, he could’ve asked for anything since he stopped the devil’s resurrection, but all he wanted to do was treat Ivona’s ailment. But when he went to the high priest, he told him that it was useless since she was going to die soon. So when Ivona died he considered it the worst day of his life. He knew everything that happened to her, how horrible her life was. So when the priest asked him if he loved her he didn’t think so since he doesn’t know how to love. The high then suggested of a way by eating the devil’s heart, Claude would be able to give Ivona a chance which he agreed to & that’s how she was able to go back in time it was all b/c of Claude

But then what would have been a good way to repent ? She regrets it and she feel terrible about it, she ask for forgiveness and it was given to her. That's how things work, if the people concerned are okay with forgiving and moving on then that's how it should be.

But also there's an interesting psychological thing going on where since she isn't the main character her struggles are mostly ignored by the readers and she is hated for making terrible mistakes, even though she regrets it, because the pain she inflicted seems greater than the pain she received. The reader compare her suffering to Jun's effectively putting them in competition and think of her poorly, treating her exactly like the grandmother and parents did and which put her in this mental state to begin with. And I find this really interesting.

She was a bad person period what if jun died that day, for what? Because she was petty, selfish and jealous she is not a child she was 25 and a teacher, it's great that she had character development but I wouldn't have forgive her if I were jun..

Well I can tell you never spend around 20 years of your life being treated as inferior to your sibling and neglected by your family, causing depression and insecurities deeply rooted in your whole childhood all because a younger sibling was born.

i like your perspective but honestly it still doesn't excuse hana for the actions she has done nor does justify it. We all have a reason for doing a certain action and that's true, inferiority is something that I struggle too at times but I haven't got to the point that I would put someone down to the point that they'd run away from home or want to disappear (I know that we have different experiences nor do I wanna compare, im just sharing my experiences).

I still don't tolerate hana's action just because she has regretted it already because there's still that pang or that pain especially when you relate to Jun who's always felt that he had no outlet nor person to rely on with this matter (excluding rin)

She changed into a better person. I agree. I love her for that. But, the author didn't show her journey at all. She just cried and apologized to her mom. I saw nothing else from her side. And at the end you can't blame me for not liking her because she doesn't deserve it. I get that she has be neglected a lot by her parents and especially her grandmother ( haye that bitch) but does that justify Jun almost dying? What did Jun do to be treated like that? He was outed against his will, he was told that he was disgusting just because he liked the same sex. I understand why hana did what she did but that doesn't make her innocent or right.

Actually my grandmother has preferred me over my brother, it doesn't make me sabotage my brother or ruin his life cuz I love him as much as my grandmother and to think she hated her innocent brother as an adult is just pathetic . Don't excuse her just because she was abused as a child and I am pretty sure her mom and dad love her but she chose to ignore that hell even her brother whom she hated so much loves her so STOP JUSTIFYING HER ACTIONS

Was your grandmother the one (and only one) who raised you ? Because you can't compare being neglected by one family member to being neglected by your parents/guardians that's not the same thing at all.
Do you have any idea what it feel like to never be treated like a child nor an adult ? Do you know what it's like to have everyone around you force you to be independent and alone then praise you for being mature because you're able to get by on your own ? Do you know what it's like to see your sibling effortlessly get everything you fail to obtain ? Have you experienced the loneliness of struggling all alone as a child because no one would listen ?
There's a big difference between loving someone and making them feel loved. Love doesn't matter if you make the loved one feel worthless.
So lucky for you if you weren't starved for love but not everyone need the same thing and by consequences not everyone can overcome the same thing.

Of course it doesn't excuse her actions, it just explains them, her regrets and efforts in making it up to the ones she hurt does. So your hate for her is what have no justification.

You know everyone have felt like this in their life even if they have good family. I dunno where you are from but i am from India ,people here don't give that much importance on emotions yk my mom thinks I should only think about my studies and nothing else. I remember crying myself to sleep every night in 8 9 th grade, crying about every unimportant thing. I was lonely and confused. There was a phase when my big bro hated everyone(wouldn't talk to me) , I couldn't hate him then and I couldn't hate him now . You really think anything can justify her trying to harm innocent jun, her baby brother . What she did has consequences, she should have think logically instead of with emotions. When you go through some abuse you should see it to yourself that you don't become the abuser

I understand, I'm from India too and I have a big brother. He's the favourite child lol and my parents are very controlling so I get you. Me and my brother used to be really close but now we don't even say hello to each other.

Thank you very much for your kind words. I am at much better place now. My relationship with my brother has also improved, we talk about life our goal our love life (or lack thereof) , and I love my mom the most, as I grow older I understand her more and she's gotten a lot friendly and we share things.
