I know I’ll probably get a lot of hate for saying this but Khaol has been through some shit SHIT. I’m not trying to defend his actions completely from hurting those around him, but I get why he’s extremely angry and has trust issues ? Let’s not forget the very beginning where they said everything Khaol was put through because he loved Kaveri. They said they killed his whole family right ? And then tied him up and tortured him until he died from his wounds after being tortured like that a couple months ! He was angry and blamed the guy that got them in trouble (the ancestor) so cursed him. He knows he’s in the wrong with that too because he keeps telling himself that he “doesn’t deserve” River’s love. Yes, Heil is a sweetheart, definitely not the bad guy. However, a lot of y’all were way too quick to jump ship.
