Yes you are on the right track, all we know right now is that Barton is one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
We also know that they appear when it's the end of the World and that they have and can caused many events such as floods, the spread of typhus, wars and many much more which always result in Earth's land being soaked by blood...
