Starfall<3's answer ( All 3 )

Find something that interests you more. Trust me I know, I used to read yaoi all day until I found my next addiction (lol) which was reading yaoi novels, imo it was a better alternative since at least I was reading a novel even if it was yaoi (not smut, it has plot) and during that time I hardly read any yaoi, every few days I would check the site......   reply

I feel like some people read my post wrong *face palm* when I mentioned 'other random guy' I meant a character in the story not in real life. I'm not questioning rape in real life but in the story. I know in the end everything is fiction so I'm not really bothered by the rape but in my post I was questioning whether people are hypocrites for think......   2 reply

Starfall<3's question ( All 2 )

I have come to a realisation lately that manhwa and manga based around smut using the same storyboard style as manhwa have overtaken the yaoi 'update date' section and as someone who have read a few manhwas and a couple of smut manga (I didn't like it, it was bland overall - Papa datte, shitai and the one where a guy had a tongue piercing, I forgot the name and I couldn't find it) this is troublesome since I mainly read yaoi manga.

I always known that manhwa is very popular and the constant release of them didn't really matter to me since there was still a lot of yaoi manga updating but now all I see is manhwas and smut manga overpopulating the update section. Imagine my expression when I see a lot yaoi in the update section and they're called - the mating season, mushroom syndrome ~cum or die~, does the carpet match the drapes?, kiss you fuck you, cumming in your public bone and etc, I don't even need to check if they're yaoi manga because they scream smut. I used to spend my time reading yaoi now I only read one chapter a day and have moved on to yaoi novels instead lol.

Ever since the smut yaoi (manhwa style) laid it's golden eggs, Papa datte shitai and tongue piercing guy, their overwhelming popularity booped yaoi manga out of existence and now their children have taken over the site with manhwas as their king while they're the queen of the yaoi update section. Every once in a blue moon I would see a manga and one that interest me (I'm not picky), my guess is that their popularity have demotivated people wanting to translate yaoi manga.

So I've seen people complaining about rape and people complaining about the people bitching about rape but lately I wondered whether the people who didn't mind rape in yaoi are hypocrites.

I get the impression that people don't mind rape if it's not violent (eg. beating, torture) and isn't treated seriously in the story but what if the one who raped the uke is not the seme but some other random guy? would you guys still say that rape is okay? If it was during the beginning of the story and the seme and uke have yet to develop feelings for each other but the uke was vanilla raped (not violent) would you think that it was fine?

I don't know, the main argument that people who are fine with rape in yaoi usually say things like - "it's fiction" or "it always happens in yaoi anyway" but I think they're fine with it because the uke usually ends up with the rapist anyway (aka seme). I feel like there is bias towards seme rapists and are given a free pass and are usually praised at the end of the series but if they weren't the seme they would be trashed upon.
