Drity Thoughts's feed

To be honest, I think I'd like this story more if I was still 14 or 16 years old. Ahin is really giving me the Twilight Edward Cullen vibes. Like, "We are meant to be, but I'm too dangerous. You are mine, but stay away from me. You are the love of my life, but I will literally kill you." Vivi is a constant damsel in distress. lol
Plus, some parts just didn't make logical sense or scenes were glossed over... It was still an interesting read, just not what I'm looking for when it comes to strong female leads.

**Spoilers and Rant**
Okay. To start off, Ahin is quite literally my least favorite character in the whole dang story... haha. His personality irks me so much! He does what he wants, when he wants, and have absolutely no regards to anyone around him. Horrible communication skills, this one. If he really cared for Vivi, he'd at least try talking to her. Get her opinion or how she feels about it or something! Anything! But, no, he's does things because he thinks it's good for her and leaves her in the dark about everything. Like, "Hey Vivi. I'm going to keep the knowledge of why you can't transform properly a secret. I'm also going to your hometown and plan to destroy your family without telling you. Also your bro is dead, but you don't need to know that. You just need to stay put and not worry your little brain about anything. :)" Plus, his jealousy is so unbearable! He just want to trap her in the Grace estate and never let her leave. Wherever he goes she has to stay behind and idly wait for him, but also she can't go anywhere. Can't even have friends without him being jealous and wanting to cage her up. When Vivi is away to better herself and promising to return, he doesn't even want to give her space. So she has to constantly run away because she hasn't overcome her fear of predators yet. Bro, let her breath. The constant teasing is annoying too, but I guess that's part of his personality. Suddenly, the very last chapter (ch. 150) he tries to do a 180° and wants to be less jealous, clingy, and controlling??? Yeah, that's not happening and it shows.

Run/Rune/Lune is no better. The dude keeps trying to kidnap her, chase her down, and does what he wants with her because he knows she's helpless. I feel sorry for him, but he's just a nice guy that hasn't done much to earn her affection.

Would like to see more of Quinn's human form, but the guy is always angry at something.

Was anyone else bothered by how Evelyn was so slow and annoyed about Ash, Vera, and Quinn pushing him to hurry and go to Ahin's room when Vivi was in danger? He's supposed to be Ahin's cloesest servant since childhood, but lacks awareness of what's happening around him... Also, what was the logic in kidnapping a passed out Vivi?

And Vivi... Oh, Vivi. How is she canonically smart but doesn't use her smarts to plan anything out? Rather than a strong female lead, I'd describe her as ditsy and often dragged around by other characters. Her path is pretty much laid out for her. Some things that come to mind are... Helping to understand pheromones, Ahin's mom. Etiquette and how to be human, Grandpa. Getting into the Rabbit territory, Rune. Hiding from Ahin, Ahin's mom. Getting kidnap and returned to Ahin, Evelyn. She doesn't really initiate things herself. :/ The only thing I can say she really did herself was going to confront her mother and even then she needed a lot of help. Development-wise, she remain so unsure of herself throughout the series. Even after Ahin "allows" her to do what she wants...

This biggest illogical bit to me was when they were returning from the Rabbit territory in the carriage and Ahin had to stay behind. They were being attacked and door was locked from the outside, she just goes bonkers and breaks the window and shout at Quinn and Evelyn not to come near her. Then she put everyone to sleep anyways... What harm would it have done if Ahin had told her what was going on instead of keeping it a secret?

I know that's a lot of negatives, but that's just what stuck in my mind while reading. Plot was interesting, execution of the story could be better, character development is minimal. Again, it's a fun read, but I think I'd enjoy it more if I were younger. As I was obsessed with possessive men saving a helpless damsel at every corner back then. haha

My favorite characters are Madam Valence, Grandpa Lilion, and servant Maymi. Since they actually help move her forward, rather than stop her.
