I think its just an old couple's banter to be honest.
I haven't read the novel but in the manga I just don't there's enough romantic tension unlike with the other male leads. So ending with the a female lead feels force and queer clickbaiting.
The story is cute. But just thinking of working even in undead state terrifies me. I want an early retirement

I think this manhwa has great potential for a KDrama. Yep, not movie. The pacing is good and have enough suspense. Also, they are doing great in switching perspectives.
As for why not a movie, I think cut off a lot of scenes to fit it for a movie runtime. So nope.
But then, if it gets adopted to a drama they'll have to choose which will be the main lead.
