One of the most unsatisfying endings ever and its even worse cus i was so invested.
Basically right when Diana was gonna get disposed from her position as crown princess Kael goes n saves her, preventing her from being disposed. Ik he did this cus it would like undermine the royal family power n cus helios n the king asked him but it legit just left such a sour taste in my mouth because we were SO close to seeing the end of her revenge n cus Diana literally dont deserve that position.
Also cus Kael didnt want the revenge in the first place n just wanting to focus on his relationship wit Hes now but like the fact he just did it, without rlly giving much opinion to Hes (which causes her to nearly kll herself to try to go back to her own life cus she was so unmentally unstable at the time) just makes me question how much he even rlly likes her. To just do ts w/o wanting for Hes opinion or even deciding collectively how they wanted Diana to end ykwim.
And we never see the author even try to address this, Helios literally just says some shit (i forgot most of it i binged read this all in two hours) abt how he made kael do it n then they just travel away from the capital n she just forgives him. Fuck me this was so fucking disappointing i wish i wasnt so invested. N like we see Kael regret it he cries n doesnt leave Hes side for a while afterwards (which was like two chaps…) but like…its not enough. And Hes just lets this happen because she wants Kael to be happy.
BUT THEN IN THE LATER CHAPS SHE ADMITS SHE STILL HATES DIANA… (if i remember that correctly its 3am for me rn) so clearly she still has some lingering issues but keeps pushing them aside for Kael which frustrates me cus he didnt do that when he saved Diana. His first love. Like how his originally character was designed to always do. Oh my god.
N yes diana eventually steps down from crown princess by divorcing helios but i could not care less im so stuck up at that n it was in the sides/epilogues not the actual main crust of the story. Felt like the author wanted a realistic ending rather then a satisfying one but man if i wanted a realistic ending i wouldnt read a story about a women who possesses an extra in a novel where people have powers.
Like what Hes legit saids when she was abt to off herself this was like a bubble instead of refreshing cider. Like if Romeo and Juilet ended on ‘and then he woke up. It was all just a dream’.
Ok sorry for the long tangent i am just so frustrated at the lacklustre (for me) ending for such a good novel. @-@
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
what i mean is its annoying how despite Hes changing the plot so much n how the author insinuated that the characters r much more 3D then what she read in the novel, that Kael would stick to his original character design n save Diana (regardless of the intention which was to focus on Hes n their relationship but shows how he values his duty a lot that its equal but maybe even more then his love for Hes (i feel like second one is true). Ruined how much i liked Kael as a character n Hes for not standing her ground.
I mean Diana even did shit to Hes, i remember her even admitting to praying for the death of Hes in the novel (if i remember that correctly) so this is so annoying.
Im so annoyed im going to sleep n make up my own ending at this point
Wow, that's really disappointing (⊙…⊙ ) haaa and i really want to see helios get A BIG REJECTION from Hes. I don't like the guy at all, even more with Diana. But know the ending is not as satisfying as I hope, im not sure anymore. And like it did feel unequal (the love between kael and hes), I felt that for a while, thought maybe it'll get better when it ends. But *sigh* man, I'm sad and disappointed now (︶︹︺)
Can you tell me if they end up together or if Hes go back to her world?
They end up together n hav a kid i think
Totally agree with you . . I just think their feelings were really not the same when he decided to save Diana in the end as if he didn't have any emotional obligation to help anymore. But what about Hestia's feelings? I can't remember exactly whether that was when Hestia was pregnant or not, but if anyone has read the novel and can remember the bathtub scene, it was a bittersweet moment for me. It was like Hestia just resigned herself and give in to the fact that he had to save Diana. He chose to save her rather than take care of Hestia’s feelings and all of her efforts since the first . . I just can’t help but feeling bittersweet about that.
((As far as I can remember, as I said about the bathtub scene, sometimes I just want Hestia to return to her original world and find someone who truly loves her from the bottom of her heart.))
Yep exactly how i felt. Totally feel disappointed in Kael being the ml after this n how the author kept pushing scenes of them two being lovey dovey after this…
I think it was kinda inevitable. From the beginning, Kael and Hes were not the same. He never sought revenge, only Hes did. His depression mostly came from being isolated and treated like a villian by the people he cared for the most. As he started to find himself again, he was able to move on and forgive. Hes's need for revenge came from her trauma. When she was depressed about not being able to go home, she found purpose in Kael. However, Kael committed suicide, so Hes felt robbed of her purpose and turned her anger towards Diana and Helios. Her revenge was about Kael, but it was not for Kael. This is why despite Kael letting everything go and putting his duties first, Hes had a much harder time. Kael was able to think about the consequences of the royal family's fall on the empire. Hes has stated and implied that she doesn't care about those things. She also rationalizes her feelings by viewing everyone as characters in a novel. In a way, the ending does seem more realistic. Rather than a revenge story, it seems to be a story more about a transmigrator dealing with unaddressed trauma that caused an unhealthy obsession. Rather than giving in to that obsession like a novel character (by getting revenge), she had to let it go like a real person (by moving on). Although Kael appears to be following the storyline of the original novel, he is actually behaving like a rational person in my opinion. In a way, they have reversed roles. Vengeful transmigrator and forgiving novel character. In other stories, it's usually the transmigrator thinking rationally and being forgiving.
same. i hated the ml then although i understand why he did what he did.but he didnt even try to talk to his wife about it first or explain things before making a decision. it feels like he cared more about the empire than her
