the story is so good like perhaps one of the best kagehina ive read so far but damn, that scene was unnecessary (ik people will say that it was necessary for the plot) but uh that scene could've went like kageyama not going all the way because that wouldn't have affected the plot at all. the author clearly portrayed how traumatised hinata was after that, but suddenly when he was going to get raped by those other players, kageyama saved him and um the sex there was sort of ooc (but that maybe just me). because the love they shared in this manga was shown so beautifully i hoped that their first time would not be catalysed by rape both the times hhhhh anyway, this was a good story :")
i....i just....good lord the assault in the beginning was so uuuuuuhhh it put me off ugh i can't proceed when it starts in such a way,,,,, but like can anyone give me a blurb if it's worth reading?
As someone who started reading this when it first came out, I can say with confidence that it is worth it. Even though it's super long and they really stretched it out, the author did such a good job with everything imo. The whole thing did a 180°, deadass. I kid you not. The assault at the beginning doesn't last the entire manga, I promise.
(small details which might be spoilers)
im at ch40 (?) and im still struggling like everything's affecting me the wrong way,,,a whole lot of the starting chapters are assaults, abuses, dubcon bdsm, non-consensual things and i hate it hhhh i was so uncomfortable so skipped most of it but i think taka (?) has some trauma (?) i haven't read far but he was jittery talking with his mom on phone so,,, but still trauma dumping on yuu, and yuu being forced to accept his abuse, then acting like nothing big happened idk like i can't really understand how yuu is not mortified, and there's some degree of stockholm syndrome, and rn taka is feeling quite guilty,,,, and they're trying to understand each other so,,,,,I'll see what happens, but i just can't forget the abuse and trauma that yuu was subjected to :(
im so disgusted but this. i knew this story was not a light read and it's very heavy, but when the artist clearly focuses on the rape over and over and OVER AGAIN it's just so disgusting and i just skip everything, i just go to the end to keep up with the plot (which is non existent at this point, like we get snippets of it here and there). im pained seeing the mc screaming that was so painful. i hate it so much ugh i'd perhaps drop this and just come once in a while to see the plot ╥﹏╥
i feel like this has a lot of plot holes,,,and passes because it has good art :( firstly, julian seems way toooo obsessed with his brother's life. like, yeah i get it you care for him, but stop making decisions for him, or trying to help him when he didn't ask you. secondly, i feel like both karel and sasya suffers from their own psychological disorders, and uh idk of help was available in the timeline the plot takes place. their emotions and communications are very much one-sided, both for karel and for sasya. karel loves him in his own obsessive way, and sasya... honestly idk what he truly feels. i do not get his motive for sleeping with the nobleman after running away from home. he tells mr. skar (karel) later that he didn't need money or status, so,,,, why was he sleeping with b the old nobleman who was literally raping him inna way? his depression seems much more severe than it's portrayed here and it makes things more difficult to understand the plot. this way, it's easier to blame sasya for leaving him then seeking him again, but if his depression was talked about in the story, if this issue was dealt with seriously rather than just mention it as a passing reference, then sasya's character would've made more sense. sasya seems to have abandonment issues, and trauma from the past, but it's treated so....idk....languidly... that i was honestly disappointed. both of them, or in that sense, no one in the story, seem to be rounded characters, all of them seem to be very one dimensional. sometimes julian is doing this or that, karel is angry sometimes, sometimes he loves and like they're all very extreme emotions. and like, human emotions are much more complex than that. i believe the author had something complex in mind in terms of expressing their conflicting emotions, but it's portrayed very very loosely. which, makes the story lose its natural flavour. this really had so much potential because it was beginning to talk about some serious issues, but then, it became such a cliche plot, (im not saying i don't like them), but it's a dragging read when the characters don't even know what they're doing.
OH PLUS, it was weird how karel didn't even try to learn russian when he couldn't communicate with sasya like....? julian knows russian so it couldn't have been hard for him to learn the language to communicate with the one he supposedly loved, but no. he was okay with not being able to understand sasya, while seeing julian converse fluently with him in russian like,,,
it's so funny how everyone keeps saying that aiden is a huuuge red flag but no one actually saying what he did, and giving some links like???? what did he do plus the reviews of the link are all positive ones so like???? am i missing smth here?????
