Well, I'm nineteen and I've been reading yaoi since I was 14? 15???? I think at first I was drawn by the fluffy bl couples and after that, I descended into the yaoi abyss. Liking boy on boy shipping didn't leave me with a guilty conscience despite my environment not accepting queer people.
When I started reading more hardcore stuff, I knew for a fact that I liked it but others around me (eg family) would not so you can say it was kind of a secret.
As many times as I think about it though, I don't remember feeling guilty. ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
I knew -using the power of almighty logic- that queer people existed and that part was normal.
Rape scenes and generally scenes that are not quite moral is a whole another subject and to sum it up it's a work of fiction and anyone bringing it to life (without consent at least) can't be called a human.
Now grown up and over the legal age, I can say that pretty much nothing has changed. I guess I know better that there are many people in my every day life that enjoy bl and it's fun to realize it and exchange opinions and recommendations!
