Aren't we all sorta fond of people who are naive and oblivious? This is literally fiction, so what's wrong with having a loveable MC. Lets just be glad the majority of people in real life aren't like that but I enjoy these characters every once in a while. Calling the author a pedo is so dramatic. And then the same people also read Killing Stalking, Jinx, Blood Play etc. Make it make sense.
