I'm a furry myself but I just don't understand a pairing between a tiger and a rabbit. It looks weird in a way atleast to me.
This is not a supernatural manga, the tiger and rabbit representation is not meant to be 'furry'.
The tiger and the rabbit are metaphors for their personalities, if I remember correctly the animals are also representations the year the characters were born into [year of the tiger and year of the rabbit]. It's a technique some older manga use.
The translation group also explains the idiom that refers to the tiger and the rabbit that is referred to but I don't remember it because it has been a long time since I read this but it is similar to the meaning to the fable of the lion and the lamb in English. They also explain the meaning/superstitions about personality and character traits being born under a certain zodiac animal.

When I read stuff like this I always wonder what goes through the mind of the author. Killing Stalking, Warehouse, all of these are very much twisted and sometimes you just don't understand the characters at all. For me, POTN is far less twisted than these tbh.
Now that i look at it, what's the manga really about and what's with those chapters about the living butt and intense but dirty shounen scenes?
Probably the butt chapters are one of the author's manga and the general story I guess is about the struggle of the author (and editor?) to work with bl when they wanted to make shonen
