I feel like the ending was rushed. Is it just me? Disappointing considering the overall tone of the story, and how well paced it was. I have no problem with MC dying, its how rushed it happened :(

Yeah I agree with you :( I expected a lot more of this story. The pace was slow, so a ending of 31 pages in one chapter doesn't suit the story's pace at all ...

Its summer, but here i am writing an essay like im in school (￣ε(#￣)Σ
So basically ive figured it out.
Yes it's revenge, but it's mindless revenge, because sungho believes thats what he's doing to Dohyun is equivalent for the pain he endured in highschool, but what makes the story creepy and disastrous is that Sungho was not traditionally raped as he believed he was, because unlike Dohyun, he could've rejected his abuser, and yes although it would be painful, he wouldnt have been abused and stuck in the manipulative relationship. But because of the way Dohyun treated him, he felt he was being raped and there was no way out of it or any way to reject him.
And thats what makes his revenge on a different and unequal scale of what Dohyun did to him, and what he's trying to mimic from high school days. Such as, unlike the "every couple days they would have sex" relationship the two had in highschool, Sungho is forcing Dohyun into a "every couple hours they have rough, non consensual sex".
Unbeknownst to him, he conciously chose to have a sexual relationship with Dohyun. There was nothing against his will so to speak, considering they were highschoolers. Unlike the present relationship on which it is built up on rape. Dohyun is conciously refusing sungho and often tries to escape, unlike Sungho who only tried to leave the relationship beteeen him and Dohyun only once and then proceeded to give in to the greatment.
So yes, Dohyun most definitely treated Sungho bad, but the equivalent that Sungho is trying to achieve in his revenge is of deeper evil than he thinks, and no where near the equivalent of what he endured in high school.
IDK,to me revenge is what this seemed to be about but it isnt,as you read further into this manhwa,you see hints that Sungho has a goal to achieve out of doing this,from the beginning we see that he wants Dohyun to remember him,but why? also a part of the revenge?
and eventually Dohyun also assumes this is just petty revenge,i mean how can it be anything other than that,to him and even to us readers,Sungho seems to hate Dohyun,even though he might show some momentarily affection toward him from time to time.
he decides to play along and let Sungho have his revenge and get it over with,so that he leaves him alone after he is done.Sungho sees that Dohyun is less resistant and not rejecting him anymore,so he is happy he figures that this means Dohyun remembered him,only to realize that Dohyun is complying so that he can get this over with.so if its just revenge why does it matter what Dohyun thinks as long as he lets Sungho sleep with him as he pleases? but Sungho gets pissed at Dohyun for thinking like that,he says 'he's came to this and did all of this for him,so how can he think its that simple?' to which Dohyun replies that its over and there is nothing between them anymore,this hurts Sungho,again if its revenge,why does it matter to him if there are no romantic feelings from Dohyun towards him? the fact that Dohyun is letting him do him willingly should be satisfying enough,right?
i honestly believe that the author led us the readers to believe that this is about revenge ,while dropping sprinkles of events that make us doubt that from time to time.
i believe Sungho's purpose wasnt revenge from the beginning,he wanted to make Dohyun his,he wanted to have him.and this was the only way to do it,seeing that Dohyun wont willingly accept it,so he had to force him :/
i also believe that Sungho treated Dohyun like shit,because he just grew up to be a shitty,cruel,cold person,and because Dohyun has power over him emotionally and he knows he can manipulate and will try to fool him,so he has his guard up against him.
you see even in the cigarettes chapter,when Dohyun asked him to buy him cigarettes,Sungho didnt wanna do it,he was pissed at Dohyun,but he ended up going out to buy it for him.even in the cake chapter,when he bought food for Dohyun,he also bought him cigarettes,so now he buys it for Dohyun,since he asked him for it,i think deep down he cant help but want to please Dohyun, no matter how harshly or shitty he treats him.
and that's my theory lol.
Tbh, I think Sugho is just really obesses with Dohyun that he kidnapped/raped him. We may think that's it's all about revenge but in fact it's just Sungho wanting to have Dohyun all to himself. Remember before struggling Dohyun, Sungho questioned why was he the oly one who has these weird feelings and not Dohyun? He made it to a point where it became his life, made it this far (i think his love for Dohyun has made him into the adult that he is, like in the dj) but idk man, that's just my theory

I agree, but I do think a little part of it wasn't revenge but vengeance. Sungho thinks that Dohyun was hurting him on purpose or that Dohyun had complete control over Sungho, so he got scared and probably is treating Dohyun forcefully because he wants to have power over him.
What do you guys think?
I believe that Sungho wanted revenge, to make Dohyun feel as bad as he did then, as in of being used and betrayed (we all know he's failing real hard in several fronts) while being subconsciously in love/obsessed. So in chapters 32-33 he has a mental breakdown because
a) he becomes aware /stops denying he has feelings for the MC and desperately wants to be with him ,
b) Dohyun isn't on the same page as him; so he is upset about the fact that he has always been emotionally dependent on Dohyun but Dohyun is not (basically nothing changed since they were teenagers, he hates it) and he won't be able to make him experience the same despair he felt in highschool.
Anyways, Sungho is a pretty complex character and his intentions are difficult to read.Things might change in second part (the question is how).
