I feel like the butt of a joke rn... Am I missing something or read a whole different story or what? I don't get why people were recommending this story so much as if it was the best they read in a while

Nah this CAN be good, like most of the readers before the ending was released really had high hopes for this story bc the author 's other story is so fucking irritating, but the author' s last decision of the ending made it feels extremely rushed, like even the KR readers are disappointed with how this ends up to be

Outdated is the wrong word to use, it does not apply to stories since each author makes different stories and for different target audiences.
This story is simply made for younger readers who read stories or have the tastes of typical schoolgirl shoujo stories which might feel old school or cliche to older readers but not to newcomers or newbies, that's all there is to it.

Very true! I think that's because the BL genre started out knowing the target audience was female so they figured starting with making a shoujo plot but with 2 males would work, which it did and still does. XD
Nowadays the genre became more sphisticated, you could say, it's it's own thing with it's own cliches rather than shoujo-plots but with guys instead. The writing also adapted to become more realistic most of the time and portrays men more like men and not like shoujo heroines. Which is why I cannot handle reading some of the old school BLs nowadays, it's SO cringey seeing a 25 year old guy act like a 14 year old telenovela-dramatiks schoolgirl from a school romance cliche story. Old standards were wild, I gotta say. (￣∇￣")
same! I tried reading a BL with a lot of shoujo cliches in one go and I couldn't get past chapter 10 hahaha I used to be okay reading them though. I guess it's just part of growing older
Been there, done that. XD There were times when I seriously questioned myself for liking something in the past after having read it as an adult.
