i get that she is a victim too but she really doesnt even try to see the world around her. she uses people as she wants w/o caring about the consequences or the other peron's feelings. i mean she didnt even think of the emporer when she decided to cheat on him and after everything she put him through. talk about wishy washy too -_- and omg the part when she, out of her own violation slept w moon even after knowing she will be getting married soon, didnt care abt what will happen or abt moons feelings and so when he wants to leave she wont even let him and look what happend! She hurt so many people with her selfishness, but anyway this is just my rant and personal feelings since i dont like pple like her

Why do you think she slept with Moon? Because she wanted to be married to the one she loves not out of convenience. It worked didnt it? The marriage got cancelled and they were about to get married if Moon gets his citizenship? Dana became a Queen candidate because she thought Moon was dead and nothing else matters. She has been following what her father has told all her life, can't she be happy with the one she wants?

she didn't sleep with Moon because she wants to marry the one she loves, she slept with Moon as a goodbye sex before she gets married to another guy. She could have chosen to ran away with Moon but she didn't.
I don't mind that Dana went for the contest, it's her timing that spells really off for me. If your fiance died yesterday and your father and you decided to get engaged again, it is very uncouth. The father did that because it proves he really just wants to get rid of Moon so Dana gets a wealthier fiance, and that nefarious plan is disgusting, Dana also realized that when she mentioned that his father pushed for Moon to apply as a soldier to get rid of him in war, knowing that, Dana could have feigned sick or grieving to buy time, just to see if Moon is really dead or not.
But Dana decides to go through the 2nd engagement without so much a peep of resistance. Yeah she is an abuse victim, but going with that line of thought, despite being an abuse victim, she was able to sneak out multiple times to meet Moon and even have sex with him. She is capable of defying her father if she wishes to.
The readers who are using the reason that Dana is abused and traumatized that's why she went with whatever her father did dismisses the fact that Dana is capable of defiance as shown multiple times in the story, how is it that when Dana does something it's so amazing and when she is inactive it's because she's an abuse victim?
I'm not personally attacking the readers who defend Dana, I'm just pointing out how Dana's character is very poorly written, and readers who think Dana doing the bare minimum is commendable should reassess how Dana is written by the author. If Dana dies in the story, it doesn't really change anything, that's how you know a character isn't written well.

Lmao, it wasnt a goodbye sex. You can clearly see she came back for him she even urge her father to cancel her engagement and consider her relationship with Moon. Dana was probably mentally unstable back then and thought nothing matters anymore since her mMoon was dead. By your statement you might have never been in her situation where your parents decide what you should do and you cant defy them. Idk if you're asian or what but it's common here that your parents decides for you. And consider what time frame this was happening, girls were supposed to obey their parents every will back then.

Sorry, you can't use the Asian card on me -I am one. And if you're going to bring up cultural upbringing, I am also brought up in Asia with a conservative family values.
So, no, that card doesn't work.
'And consider what time frame this was happening, girls were supposed to obey their parents every will back then.'
> But she snuck away MULTIPLE times, didn't she? she SLEPT with a man who isn't his fiance at that time didn't she? she kissed a man who isn't her husband, didn't she?...she didn't follow those rules despite the time frame, what makes it a valid excuse now when Dana is shown to know defiance when she wants something?

excatly
and also didnt the author make her to be pretty niave and seem like she is some sheltered rich lady who doesnt know about the world and stuff when she was getting to know Moon? i just remebered that and it doesnt really match with how she was being portrayed after she did it w him. maybe the events made her more mature or something (?) so she feels different but still similar??? or maybe something like a different type of innocence?? idk its probably just me lol

I thought she was a pure innocent girl too based from the story, but as I read further, her actions are very frisky.
I would have been okay with a frisky girl because that means she was confident enough to go for what she wanted, but then she acts all wishy washy about her decisions and some of her decisions were truly passive. It creates a disconnect and paints Dana as a selfish woman, she goes after what she wants despite the rules if she wants to, and she does nothing when it's inconvenient for her.
The author needs to flesh out his/her female characters more instead of using them as token figures.
