I thought that too, and I think the main difference is the style. Harada's artstyle contributes a lot into the creepy atmosphere.
I like the part with Rui and Kuro because that was pretty cute, and the tragedy of Kuro’s ‘death’ pulled my heart strings, but after that, it was too rushed and I felt like the character development of Rui just halted completely. Like, it isn’t realistic for them to just have sex straight after meeting, and Rui is delusional as he still remains to see Mashino as Kuro. This situation of false love does work, but it isn’t executed properly i feel, and it could be much better...
Should I read dream maker first or just read this one? Are there eng translations for dream maker too?
