Your theory is what makes you view it as internalised whereas other people who don't share that theory would see it as externalised.
If you don't put that theory in your original comment how is someone supposed to know why you view it as internal when the story shows it as external.

Well... Some series ( The first to come to my mind is Codename Anastasia and Ennead. ) have the habit to show rape as a part of the "romance story" between the heros and his ML ( Codename Anastasia, as far as good the story fall totally under this sheme. ).
That hopefully not the case here ( Obviously no one of these NPC gonna romance Chris X') ! ), but I think it's not better. Too much rape scene and their impact is none for the character and his relatives.
