Ehhh I guess I mean both if we're talking realistically speaking are both pretty traumatic you have this story where her entire family gets killed not told why they were she gets locked in a place and then branded by hot metal probably also forced to bed him, also i dont know if they have stated yet but did they have a child together (if they did probably killed in front of mc or maybe done out of site) and theres probably more traumatic stuff that happened that hasnt been stated yet. The yaoi version is just as bad the father dies he can't go to his funeral never gets to say bye his bestfriend growing up I belive dies child killed by the ml, one or both legs broken, forced to follow ml through thr battlefield and spend every night in bed with ml, then dies only because ml wanted to see how worried he got for him if he was seriously hurt bit didn't realize the mc would take on the injuries to save him.
Both also go into a shock like state when they hear or see anything to do with they used to love. The only slight difference between the straight and yaoi versions is that usually the straights tend to pick not to go back to the shitty ml but there is still plenty that do, yaoi on the other hand tend to stay more with the ml but you have a few that don't.
But none the less if you prefer the straight couples more then that's you everyone has there line they don't like to cross.
