The storytelling is pretty messy. The characters are meh. Nothing special here.

I get why you say that. I feel like, had there been say, five more chapters to flesh out the story so far, it would quite possibly become one of those legendary BLs that everyone loves. It's actually a very interesting story with pretty interesting characters. It just feels bland because there's barely been any focus on the developments, and everything's just happening too quickly...

It doesn't matter whether if there are 5 more chapters or not for the story to mature or make sense. The problem is how the story is being told as you have said so yourself. The author actually focused too much on plot development that the characters have been neglected. I don't know what you find interesting in them, but I really didn't connect with any of the characters, maybe save for Tan Lang. It was good that it is shown that he is the type of guy that does whatever needs to be done, but it has been told so late in the story. Sure there are only 14 chapters, but there are one-shots that have made more impact than this.
Anyway, gonna stop ranting now. It's just really a bummer because the art is quite nice, which is what prevented me from rating this as 1/5. Or maybe that's why I expected more from the story and got severely disappointed...
I don't think I'll enjoy reading Yaoi as much as I did before after reading this amazing manga.♡ The semes rarely blush and I have a thing for those (manly guys who blush), and reading this one made me crave for mooaar!

For the same reasons above, I don't feel Akira's partner. ( ̄へ ̄)
