i need ian to ditch those men, move to california, open his own auto-shop, and find a rich 45-year old man who's going to treat him right

i dont hv a problem w jo and wouldnt care if ian ended up w him i acc like him but i just like the idea of ian getting away from everything and starting a new life in a place where nobody knows him i want him to build a family w people not connected w his past or even his present he deserves to have a life so far away from all of these and he can do that without a man

But Jo wouldn’t be connected with his past in the sense he someone that Ian could disappear with and start over with. The one that truly connects him to his past is TJ. But I understand where you’re coming from. But literally hasn’t even given Jo the time actually change things for him because he has TJ on the brain. I feel like would be waste to the plot to have Jo give up on him and vice versa. Because at that point there was no need to introduce Jo into the storyline when the author did.

hmm ur right! i was actually just thinking that even if ian chose jo and they got away, he would still be reminded of how awful his life was bc jo knew about it. but i only just realized that ian needs to know that someone will still accept him no matter who he was, is, and will become (which will help him to finally realize thats hes worth everything, like jo said).
i feel like ian's shitty self-esteem plays a lot w him refusing to acc believe jo and his feelings towards him; he thinks he doesn't deserve jo so why would he give him a chance :-( though i think ian asking to run away w him is some sort of an ultimatum.
