There is no intimate touching either. Jeffrey will even have to stop seeing Lottie till she's grown up again to avoid the surveillance of the disciples. The disciples believe that Jeffrey's hiding Lottie so they are watching his every move. Hahahaha. And Lottie confessing her love will happen at the very latter part of the story. She's too focused on her disciples, magic, the demon etc but not on Jeffrey's feelings though Jeffrey will become bolder and bolder when it comes to showing his love for Lottie.

Empathy is so important, not even talking about a character of which struggle you read about and seen in depth yet you can't even pity him so I can imagine the way you must feel about people like him of which life you know nothing about.
