I love how involved Louie is with his kid. I've seen too many child raising BL where they treat their kid as competition for affection with their partner. Like, that's YOUR kid, they need affection from you too! Familial affection is different from Romantic affection, it doesn't need to be ranked!

louie has the right level of affection competition with his kid. "i love mommy more, but let me show you fun ways to troll mommy."

NGL, the art direction here is too...tame? Muted? For a story like this. I read the novel first so I guess O had expectations.

This reminds me of some horror B movie. Completely nonsensical but utterly fascinating.

I wish they didn't have to part ways like that but there is still bad blood between the brother and Hyo-un. Given how he remembers his past incarnations, maybe some day some other time. Taehyuk and Hyo-un finally have each other so I don't blame them for focusing on that.

His mom died in poverty and this old man has the audacity to demand respect? How about a roundhouse kick to the face?

SadPudding October 14, 2024 7:28 pm

I notice KR BL has MCs actually be gay rather than in JP BL where "I'm not gay but it's okay if it's you"

    Hmmm October 14, 2024 10:38 pm

That's partially bc SK is more progressive than Japan is, but I think it's also that manhua is more popular now so most translated manga is older and more outdated while most manhua is modern

Japanese BL is surprisingly homophobic. There’s a significant lack of gay people despite them all sticking dick in man ass. It reminds me of elektal delusion where the ML was gay and super rapey and the MC was straight whose sister was a fujoshi. But she was actually homophobic to real gay men. She only liked it in fiction. In Japanese BL the most popular trope is “gay, straight, doesn’t matter. I love you for you” it’s like they forget the concept of bisexual exists. And when they do write bisexual characters they’re always massive sluts. Forget about pansexual. I’ve never even heard it mentioned in Japanese BL. It shows really outdated notions and tropes surrounding homosexuality. Korea is surprisingly more progressive. I know in BJ Alex the bottom was gay. The top was bi and the side characters I think were pan and bi? And in love so pure they even talk about the difference between bi, pan, gay, lesbian, etc. they’re actually gay. And bi and pan people are acknowledged and exist. It’s actually difficult for me to find manhwa where a straight man is like “I like you for you. Penis be damned!!!” He usually is like “I didn’t know I could sleep with men but I guess I can :3”

yea because japan is kinda... homphobic as a society in a sense and how they act in some way... I'm not saying it's dangerous

well lol i speak as if ive been there.
but yea i remembered a video docu about a bl manga that showcases how japan isnt exactly accepting (in like a real life scenario)

due to how they are and their culture. add to the fact that they are in general very private people not saying they're shy, theyre just reserved in things unknown) so such things arent exactly openly talked about and Public displays of affection isnt something you see often.

if you do want to express yourself or do some PDA it's in specific places like nichome or soemthing. and i meant it as like someone who's born there and the people around you aren't exavtly accepting

but i feel like as a foreigner you can do whatever just dont be rude or do something that bothers other peeps in public and they wont care about you. i hope people dont get discouraged to going there.

and i feel like recent generations are now more accepting i guess specifically in big cities like tokyo and not the countryside. you get the gist hahaha

basically they're tolerant but not accepting i hope my english is understood

also add to the fact that japanese is super slow in accepting something new (reason why they were able to keep their culture and architecture intact for a long time lol) that they are more into print media aka magazines and some companies still use analog technology (the cons hahaha)
fax machines, some animations still draw via light box and paper and they scan the paper
some mangakas still prefer the paper way with manually applying screentones and inks etc. before scanning everything etc you get the gist

...and all of the above might be the result as to .why fujoshi writers / mangakas are somewhat... narrow minded when it relates to lgbt stuff that they end up going for those specific storylines

so yea japan isnt all sunshine and rainbows cause it's like everyother country. they have their ugly side

but idk maybe im just making up excuses as to why they create such weird or bad storylines. lol

also if you're wondering about the manga that got a video documentary it's called
"my brother's husband" or Otouto no otto (mangago)
i cant find the video but the manga is here in the website def check it out cause it's made by a gay mangaka and the story is not like the ones made by a fujoshi or female mangaka

You’re talking about the gei comi artist Gengoroh Tagame. It’s funny that’s like the work all non-gays know him for and it’s his only wholesome work. Everything else is like…sexual violence, torture, rape, amputation, body mutilation, needles, cbt, castration, confinement, bondage, fisting, I could go on and on. It’s hardcore fetish content lmao. But he is a well respected and very influential artist, as much as Tom of Finland I guess. Gei comi (also called bara in the west but that’s not correct) is written by gay men for gay men but it’s all porn. There’s like 0 plot or romance usually. And it’s very much HARD HARDCORE. And not less toxic at all (but people in the west think it is because it’s written by gay men??)

His manga Otouto no Otto was I think serialised in a seinen magazine. And that’s the thing. Japanese queer literature isn’t found in the BL section or Gei Comi section. It would be categorised as seinen or josei and it’s really far few and in between. Only then can you find discussions about sexuality, queer identity, etc.

In saying that, despite what I said in a previous comment I wouldn’t say Japan or Korea is more or less progressive than the other country. Korea is mostly Christian and very homophobic. Japan is full of old homophobes too. They’re both pretty homophobic. Historically, Japan has been more accepting of homosexuality since male male relationships were common place for samurai. And I can actually find manga on being trans, born in the wrong body, the queer experience, etc. I can’t find any Korean manhwa like that. So….theyre sort of hard to compare without statistics. It could also be that they’re simply not translated into English.

Sry I should add I like gei comi. I don’t care that it’s “toxic”. It’s porn. It is what it is. I just get annoyed that ppl in socials say we should stop reading BL because it fetishises gay men since it was written by women and read gei comi instead because it’s written by gay men when it’s straight up usually hardcore fetish porn. And porn objectifies and sexualises everything. It’s the nature of the beast. What they should be saying is if we want to read queer lit to look in the seinen and josei genre but ppl just want to stir up a fuss. They don’t ACTUALLY care I don’t think

    BetterLeftUnknown October 15, 2024 9:22 pm

yea truee most of the time those that complain about it are just some kind of rage bait OR are searching up on the wrong content to give false info online

also yas love me some good ol gengoro tagame hahaha
opened me to alot of good af fetish lol
granted that the stories aren't exactly.. ya know healthy and just straight up porn they're still good to me tho hahaha

but it's true either way lots of asian places are very homophobic (but technically lots of places around the world are if you look closely enough hahaha)

SadPudding September 23, 2024 4:40 am

All that effort to keep a child with all that talk of becoming a family. Then as a child he barely calls them mother and father. Then as an adult they enabled his horrible actions just to...get rid of him so they can have some "alone" time. As if they didn't have other people raise him.

I've read some manwha where shitty people are shitty but at least they're self aware. This one just falls flat every step of the way. I think I stuck around for the child raising but NOPE. They even managed to fumble that what the hell

    being-you September 23, 2024 9:15 am

absolutely they were not parents material it was a fucked up relationship plus this drug rape

SadPudding September 20, 2024 2:15 pm

This would've been hilarious but I just can't get over the whole father and son thing.

I sure would like to see a switch MC and their harem of tops and bottoms so I guess I'm stuck with Nukani for now.

SadPudding September 15, 2024 3:48 pm

lol, Taeju's been taking care of their baby at night.(Look at Taeju's eyebags and him deflecting). That's why Euihyun doesn't notice.
