Where I live it's normal.
I'd say it's all dying with the new generations, unless it's the popular animes aired on TV. But it's not badly viewed nor seen as smthg cool. All in all, where I live it's more like nobody cares.
Most of the people who read/watched mangas are now in their 20/30. We find some in middleschool or highschool but way less than in my teens.
As for kpop, there's a minority and again, it's viewed normally. No matter if they are just listenning or even dressing like kpop idols, nobody cares.
In my teens, mangas and animes were equals. We watched as much as we read it. Now, as I said, they are viewed more because it goes on TV and those people just watches it because it's aired. And also because there's not that much mangas selled here. We can find some really expensive ones but that's all.

Right ! There's this christian middle school where I know a girl goes and it's specified that students are not allowed to read mangas because it calls for violence and is perveted.
I laughed really hard when I heard that.

It's mostly unknown, where I'm from. Very few people watch it, but most who do are the ones that enjoy drawing in anime and manga style.

Where I live, it's much more known. It's an intercultural city and also one where you can learn Japanese if you want to. It's viewed as entertainment more than anything. Some people like to gush over their favourite animes, others enjoy making theories about them. I'd say it goes from middle schoolers all the way to college kids.

People here prefer anime over manga, cause it's easier if you only have to watch and listen rather than having to read it yourself.
But it's mostly for entertainment, and no one really looks at you oddly for it.

No one really cares. People who read a lot (and by read, I say, books like Harry Potter too) or play videogames are associate to nerds and virgins, but no one really cares. It's not like Japan, where being a otaku is treated like something who you should hide. I often see people wearing animes t-shirts or bottons. Kpop is treated normally, I guess, most fangirls of BTS and EXO argue online, but again, not something that really bothers anyone. I don't see a lot of kids reading manga or listen to kpop.
It's like, you can read if you want, but it's okay if you don't want to.

The anime fan culture kind of peaked here during 2008-2011/12 (maybe the 2nd wave was 2012-14? but it wasn't as impactful as the 1st one) when there was a lot of anime airing on tv (we had one channel that aired most of those anime but after a few years the channel got shut down), most popular one of them being Naruto. Naruto truly created a huge frenzy back then and got a lot of people into anime/manga, myself included, even though for the first 2 years or so only the first 2 seasons aired on repeat.
I think the only people who were kind of judgmental about it back then were kids around my age, because they were, you know - kids, and middle/high school kids can be judgy about everything that sticks out from their idea of a norm, but Naruto was so huge here back then that there was basically more of us who were fans than the other kids lol. Now anime/manga is a lot less niche, like it's not an unknown thing for people anymore, and I don't really see anyone frowning upon it, though the majority of people simply don't care. Never met anyone whose parents were against their kids watching it because "it promotes violence and is perverted" either like some of the replies above, heck, my best friend's mom also loved watching Naruto with us and was basically an Itachi fangirl lol my parents also often told me back then that I should learn some things from Naruto, like his resilience and way of never easily giving up, working hard etc.
We had an annual convention called "Japanism" that was mostly focused on anime and manga, but it also had cool and informational programs about Japanese culture in general. Now that convention has been renamed and expanded to not being just about Japanese culture, but also Chinese and Korean. Can't really say the anime fan culture is dying because of Kpop though because most of the people I know who are Kpop fans now have never been anime fans. Even I, who was briefly into Kpop, can't say I dropped anime/manga for Kpop because I stopped watching anime years before I got into Kpop. I simply think the anime/manga craze naturally fizzled out because 1. the tv channel I mentioned above got shut down 2. my generation, who were the main audience of anime/manga back then, have grown up and are busy with real life now.
There is a new generation of fans though, my 14 y.o. sister and her friends all watch anime, though the whole culture is just not the same as it was when I was her age. Since anime is not showing on tv anymore, it's just fully internet based now, it's simply not as widespread and present in real life as in 2009-2014, back then we had regular shops filled with Naruto sticker albums, Naruto headbands, school materials with Naruto's face on it, etc, and that doesn't exist for any anime now.

Im from a really big major city in the east coast of the US . Here anime is becoming more and more popular with college kids, some popular ones include Jojos, BNHA, 100 Mob psycho etc. I think the influence of rappers and celebs has alot to do with it, for ex megan de stallions torodoki photoshoot or lil uzi vert in general lol. Its a drastic change from a few years ago when it was p much strictly associated with vile hate groups and nerds. its becoming something thats actually acceptable and actually? kinda cool? the weird shit like hentai is still strictly associated with horny teens and angsty virgins tho lol .

kpop is VERY popular with the younger gen maybe its because i come from an area that has alot of korean people but like... all of my HS friends love kpop and are not into animanga. like LOVE kpop. verrry similar to the anime craze of the last decade. fans are predom teen girls of any ethnicity/bg. personally don't see the appeal but hey man everyone different! kboos are the weeb LMFAO

naruto and DBZ are like the childhood staples of alot of the people around here, lots of jokes abt it.

nobody talks abt manga i dont think lol oops
