
Uh, no, the whole "he helped other people so forgive him" charade is a big no for me. He is by no means entitled to forgiveness just because he was struggling at the time. I understand how hard it can be to be unable to live how you feel you should live in terms of gender, career, love, but you can't neglect your child because of that. And the whole speech of the mom on how her daughter is the reason why he left her a few chapters earlier makes no sense now, since we know that she knew he couldn't love her. To me they are just an (ex) couple of terrible parents, and it makes me angry that the manga seems to want me to pity them or something.
Again, the daughter grew up hearing she was the reason her parents got separated, and still had to hear it when she came back to help her mom with her pregnancy, wtf.
The way Matthew talks is still very manipulative, and I hate how he goes about things. He always goes around the truth to present it in a way that makes him look altruistic or whatever, he'll stay a red flag for me, unless he does a full 180
