Incest appears in almost all mythology. The Pharaos used to marry their siblings in Ancient Egypt, thinking that their bloodline was divine, so they had to keep it in their family.
It doesn't make it acceptable, but it wasn't unusual in the past.

Haha, but maybe in order to avid traumatizing the OP it'd be better to add it wasn't "anything goes" though. In both societies and myths there were always certain "unwritten" rules about which family members anyone could, and couldn't, get romantically involved with. Parents and their children, for example, were mostly still a taboo, and sometimes full siblings couldn't get married even though half-siblings could. There were other factors like age and stuff, sometimes, as well.
