the flashback is way too long, would’ve been far more exciting to find out what happened in their past life by showing the readers fragments of their memories and letting them piece together information but instead the readers got spoonfed and info-dumped
Neither of them remembers their pasts tf are you oooooooooooonn lol
The reason for the flashback arc is 'cause neither of them remember anything. We woulda spent 50+ chapters of fragmented memories which-- time-wise-- wouldn't seem reasonable seeing as current Hyo-Un is on his deathbed with something unidentifiable killing him.
The key to curing him and furthering their relationship in the present time lies in their pasts. It's just easier to put a pause on the present so we could do a flashback sequence that would explain everything in one go.
its a critical point of view dipshit, if ur gonna cry about “oh b-but the past is SO important i-it—“ mf I KNOW how important the past it and im curious abt what happened in the past im just saying in a CRITICAL point of view, in a view of someone who’s CRITICIZING a story, its fucking shit to spoonfeed readers information about the past by showing long ass flashbacks.
like?? “but the curing is the past” no shit. its just best to let the CHARACTERS find out about the past by having fragments of their memories given to them, let the characters PIECE THEM TOGETHER, its lazy af writing to dump memories to a character by getting a 3 worth chapter of flashbacks
letting the characters piece together about what happened in the past through fragments of memory brings SO MUCH potential in giving the characters some DEVELOPMENT, letting them figure out their past through clues can also help the characters build more chemistry with each other through COMMUNICATION.
lmao ya’ll are so focused on the porn in every BL manga that ya’ll forget the importance of communication, by helping each other out, trying to understand each other, talking about feelings, past, thoughts and etc.
like sorry i prefer the two MLs to build their relationship by communicating and figuring out their past together to build a stronger bond
what do you guys think are the most overused trope and plots in BL that you’re tired of seeing but still read anyway to see if it gets better at the end
“He’s never been with a man before so he might leave me for a woman someday.”
This one annoys the hell out of me for 2 reasons, one, does it matter who they leave you for? If they fall in love with another man, would that hurt less than if they fell for a woman? And two, why would you start a relationship thinking and expecting the worst?
And th Simone probably happens in other genres as well, but since I mostly read BL, I’ll just base it off that, and it’s the promised to a supernatural being.
It just bothers the hell out of me when the romance is kinda forced upon one party because of a “promise” an ancestor made. Additionally, a lot of BLs employ the “I was straight until I met you” plots, but those usually come about “organically” meaning there is no expectation of romance, it just happens. In these promised ones, since one party has an expectation of reciprocation, the other party will eventually reciprocate, which is very cockeyed.
Frail boy uke, Manly Man seme
There are of course gay people who are more feminine compared to their partners, BL just completely exaggerates that concept to the point that theres no point in the uke being a guy cause they're much suited as a Futa instead, one artste observable is the author who made "love is an illusion" they have one of their works where the uke has some actual manly features broad shoulders and etc then fast forward to a couple of chapter BOOM! MAN LOOKS LIKE A FUCKING SHOTA
omfg this trope pisses me off the most. its even funnier when the author clearly wants the readers to empathize with the character by giving them a pathetic backstory about “my ex left me for—” as if that justifies their actions
like why start a relationship when you’re aware about your unresolved issues that you haven’t moved on from for 5 fucking years
It's common like. Uke like him but seme just there for sex.
Or
One sided love sex.
Or
Contract. To make love. N uke got money.
Or
Drunk.. but then oh no i can't forget our first time.. fuck buddies to lovers..
Or
omegaverse trope! Fuck buddies to lovers trope is used too often in when omega in heat╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭but I still read it. Cause it'll get better. Maybe.
I’m personally tired of the rich dickhead seme/poor weak uke especially where the uke is bound or indebted to the seme. The power imbalance is icky and I usually end up disliking both characters. Dickhead seme gets a trauma background and treats uke nicely for two seconds and all past grievances (usually rape and abuse) gets forgiven and forgotten. Uke never grows a backbone. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
bodyslam his ass aizawa (bl au) we preach bamf characters like u
