Guys I’m here again because I’m FREAKING OUTTTTTT, I’m not sure if you all have heard but some manhwa authors created a petition (that already has 19,000) to take illegal websites down and a lot of people are targeting mangago in Twitter what if they really take it down? Is there anything the people who manage mangago can do?
Yes! This whole situation started like one month ago when the author of Pn Pn found out her manhwa was here, I’m so scared Camila505
WHAT 1 MONTH AGO.What is the manga called, did the person who put it on this website credit it?Well I know I might not be correct but if a had to guess why this happed I would say because they didn’t ask pn pn if the could put it on this website.
look im kinda on the fence for this one because truth be told, this website IS doing illegal stuff that takes from artists revenue at the end of the day. Many readers like myself take to this website because we are not financially capable (or not available in our country) of purchasing mangas or webtoons which is the sad part of it. i understand how authors and artists must feel about this so i dont have anything against them at all. as much as i dont want to loose this site, i guess we just have to respect the feelings of the creators (and frankly the LAW lol)
Almost all manga site including all of the scanlators sites are illegal. The only legal way to read a manga is to go and buy one. Aggregation sites are basically like torrents providing you pirated content. So.... Why are they targeting Mangago specifically?
It would suck for sure. I like the fact that it’s a pretty active community, but if it goes under we know another one will just pop up in its place. I understand why creators are pissed, but I also understand why sites like these exist and it’s not solely because there are people who can’t afford to buy the series they like. At least for me, there are some series that are not available in English, or the quality of the official English translation is $hit compared to the unofficial, or for whatever reason the official translation is censored when the original is not. And li,emi mentioned before, I like that it’s a pretty active community, for example there are a few series I follow on tapas, but usually each chapter only gets a few comments, so I come on here and comment on those same chapters because there is more of a discussion going on. What I find annoying is the fake “knights in shining armor” that want to “sweep in” and be “heroes” by reporting these sites to the original artists when they are most likely also using these types of sites. That or they just have a lot of time on their hands to go hunt down illegal sites...smh... Anyway, hopefully it won’t happen...hopefully the problem series just get taken off and let the rest be...
GUYSSSS okay so, do you think mangago will shutdown? because of the situation with the author of P*an P*an, she said she will take legal action i'm freaking out because i have like 700 manga saved
No lol bc even if they do take legal action another torrenting website will just pop up in its place. So long as someone charges money for media, it will be stolen and uploaded to the internet. Sucks for them, but that’s just how it is ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Definitely. Besides, this type of shutdown worry happens at least every other year. Nothing even comes from it except the particular offending manga being removed from the site.

I mean, I think the author is in the right because what we're doing IS piracy.
That being said, it's not like we're doing unspeakable war crimes. so i hope mangago can stay safe and open.
