in very short Dominic and Eugene are connected so when Eugene stabbed himself it affected Dominic. Not that it really hurt him, but he got distracted and the other guy was able to lock him up cuz Dominic was not paying enough attention to his surroundings.

because before was his life controled by the priest. And now the blonde guy that talked to Eugene, made him believe that now Eugene is also not in control of his life and that he will never be, so that's why Eugene stabbed himself..at least that's how I understood it ^^ re-reading that chapter helped me to understand it more haha
