This story was so GOOD! Where was this when I was doom scrolling searching for a good plot without abuse or never ending nonsensical misunderstandings????
I don’t why it’s not more popolar or known.
MC is a typical in debt MC with a difficult life, he has a pushover personality and he later gets entangled with the rich ML. There is more payback here than in PAYBACK.
I really liked the story and both MC and ML. The story show the struggle of both, their backstories and their traumas (also of the second couple).
MC isn’t the skinny and small, but beefy and handsome; I loved their chemistry and their smut scenes, their dynamic is of equals and natural.
MC’s adoptive brother Jinwoo, at first annoyed me but later I came to understand his behaviour and i kinda came to like him, I think he genuinely liked MC for his kindness but i think he has a bit of a twisted personality and made bad decisions. But I am happy he could heal and find someone that appreciated him as a person and helped him get better.

I am ashamed of myself for not starting this earlier.
I had totally the wrong vibe about this story. In the plot summary they talk about dogs and mc gets metaphorically referred to as a “dog” or pet, which is very fitting with his personality. I was positively surprised by the story, it’s actually very psychological and “human”. It focuses a lot on how the characters think, feel and why they behave the way they do. I was even more surprised by Jooin and when he talked about his childhood and how he became the way he is, I saw a mirror of myself because his experience is how my life went.
Possible spoilers
Jooin became “lazy” and without energy, the total opposite of what he used to be. You could say he had depression. His mom and the controlled life were oppressing him, taking away his freedom, but ironically when he finally had the chance to be “free” he did all the things he couldn’t and they didn’t make him happy nor satisfied. He gradually lost his energy and became more dystimic. His laziness is his mechanism to go on.

I was kinda taken back by the first chapters because of the tentacle monster and I was worried the tentacle monster was going to be the “ML”. Also my guess is that Dr yu “gave birth” to Octo after that tentacle monster in the basement captured him and that’s why it’s kept hidden for his mental health. It gets a lot better and I love their family of 3.

The only villain was squall’s father. He was the seed of disaster for everything that happened. The artstyle is very cutesy but it can talk about pretty depressing and sad things. Also I found interesting that the author gave characters some kinds of “disability”, Squall missed one arm, Margaret was hypersensitive to sounds (making them both flawed heirs), later as Mag she can’t talk for a while. All characters were afflicted by a mental pain, as described in the story, caused by the war and the loss of their families.
I think some things could have been developed more or in a slightly different way (like the whole backstory that caused Margaret’s death), but overall is a good story with unique concepts.
Thank you translator-nim.
Nanjo and Mokeyeon are very instresting characters. It seems Nanjo also slowly fell for Mokeyeon, maybe he could tell that he liked him?
I am waiting for the next season, I read somewhere that the story should be 60 chapters but not sure
