Shin trying to protect Wolfgang is how he is showing his love. Remember, Shin basically doesn't think he's good enough because he was one of the King's Children. He is basically running the kingdom to prove his worth to all the haters and to make Wolfgang never regret removing his cape. He might seem dodgy, but this is Shin we are talking about. He always has a plan in motion.
