Going on a rant about Yaoi/Bl.
I used to read it as a teen because ngl my head was mush. But genuinely now as a 21yrold, i don't see the appeal at all. It reminds me of how men see lesbians ngl. I feel like most of popular yaoi/bl consists of rape or a toxic asf character.
It's rly at a point where when im looking at popular on the homepage you could convince me it was all the same characters. So much of it is a tall handsome black hair often strong male grrr (BIG DICK)

So I've been into Shounen Ai even though most of the sex scene isn't shown (censored with flowers and clouds and translation isn't on point) the story is good and a cleanser for the eyes... So seeing people comment about getting angry on them being censored makes me mad like this is Shounen Ai it means that they're more focus on relationship rather than sex..
I had my fair share of toxic story from a year or so ago... But the new releases today are like hard too stomach now ..
Like srsly I wanna slap the story of "don't mess with the puppy" On all the authors table like "Have u seen this story? This is what we want.. We want more of this kinda story! enemy to lovers shapeshifter rich seme powerful seme petite but not so girly looking uke etc. ... If they want an abusive toxic and likes to talk down seme, they could have made a BDSM story where they only do it with permission of their partner as a part of their play but will still be a great story

For the first part of what you said, I don’t exactly agree with the no appeal. You should see them as any other story, not just yaoi, focus on the plot and even skip through some sex scenes. But just like any other genre, there are many overused plots like what you said, copy and paste.
So I recommend not looking at the front page and instead searching up a genre you like, having BL as the secondary thing in the comic, for example search ‘Mangago BL zombie apocalypse’ on google. (Only click on ones with 9.0 rating or higher) The front page has the toxic stories so you have to look for the hidden gems sadly.
