Y’all I didn’t think some of us would have to say it but I thought it was pretty clear he had internalized homophobia from the recent chapters. He stated multiple times he wasn’t hurt over the fact his brother or friend was gay. He even said he was mostly hurt from being lied too. He was probably scared that his brother might face whatever he faced before from being bullied or worse.
As someone who’s had internalized homophobia, it’s moreso just denying what you are than trying to hurt anyone else. He’s not some super Chad gay beater, he’s just struggling to come to terms with himself and whatever trauma he had from being bullied over it before ┗( T﹏T )┛
