She seemed sooo logical at first. Like how can you turn someone into this twisted person then be pissed because he’s twisted? Like girl, COMMIT.
Also, her choosing to neglect her son because of some man just pisses me off. They are both sociopaths but something about that reallyyyy rubs me wrong. She’s literally going to raise a son that’s just as convoluted as the both of them through no fault of his own. To an extent they chose their own paths, but their son is just getting the short end of the stick

Like his character is written SO well. He is a really complicated, flawed, and tragic but beautifully fleshed out character.
TBH when I first started reading it was hard for me to forgive him for what happened to Rapiel even if it wasn’t intentional l. Because like, what did you expect to happen? But man, the remorse and torture he willingly subjected himself through as a result of the guilt. Overall, he had such heart wrenching journey outlining his genuine desire to atone for his actions. Even in his second life, he tried to live in a way that atoned for his actions and genuinely tried to not become a nuisance to the Kloff and Rapiel. He was capable of learning from mistakes

Tbh the MC does not deserve to be king. He literally has no past accolades and he literally is his mother’s puppet. He’s not even trying to sway the support of nobles his way to secure his position.
From my current point, halfway through the chapters, he literally isn’t even trying to fight back when his dad told him he won’t make him emperor. Like dude get some backbone and fight back against your dad and mother. In theory, the mother is completely useless without the MC. Without her son, she has no leverage to stand on. He is her only heir. He could literally put her in her place if he put in freaking effort. It just pisses me off. Like I can’t figure out what depth there is to his character other than being a damsel in distress and the MC. I’m only 19 chapters in but I really hope his character improves drastically.
His mother is a psycho murderer who killed members of the royal family. She abused her son mentally for decades. His father ignored him. No one in the palace seems yo care because he never does anything because his mother made him this way. If he actually said fuck you mom she would beat him and lock him away saying his health got worse and beat him until he was nothing. She feeds the fears she instilled. He cant do anything with out his partner but will not recover from his hell for a while.
Yes she is awful but in reality he does still hold a lot of power with regards to her position that he isn’t leveraging at all. He could acquire allies and power to support his position and use that as leverage against her plans. If he were gone, the empress would lose a huge chunk of her power whereas if she were gone, he would be less affected. If he were gone, the empotro could likely use it as an excuse to do pride and try for another heir. MC is not leveraging his position and he’s not trying to grow as a player on the chessboard. Truthfully, historically, royalty is a bloody sport. He doesn’t have the proper mindset or resolve to flourish in the environment. It’s actually good that he doesn’t want to be emperor

I think a point that didn't get mentioned here is the fact that MC is literally being poisoned by his mother to keep the "Beta" act going, he is in constant pain under that medicine/ poison, heck even the doctor on his mother's side told her it's getting a bit too much and she basically continued it. I do understand why you want MC to leverage his position but MC mother herself has considerable power, she belongs to a very strong family and has their backing. MC is constant sick and has no backing that he can call his own (I guess except ML) and his mother made sure of that because he wanted to use him as a puppet. His mother has controlled and abused him his whole life, he doesn't know how a life without abuse and neglect even looks like, it's hard to get out of abuse when you don't even know something outside of it even exists. I think we will see MC slowing starting to gather his power from now on, the beginning is just showing yne current situation.

I’m not upset that he wants to leave, but that he hasn’t tried to improve his situation via his own efforts. Which is okay if he were someone else, but he is royalty. I don’t even see where he’s trying to find someone to take over his position or kingdom. Objectively, the ML isn’t a good choice since he’s only obsessed with the MC - he’s not a great pick to rule a kingdom as it doesn’t seem like he really cares about the people. It’s not that I don’t feel sympathy for the MC, but he’s just not a strong lead character for me - maybe with character development he could be but not currently. That’s just my personal opinion

I didn’t mention the poisoning, you’re right. But from what I’ve seen so far, the poison other than causing him pain hasn’t impaired his cognitive ability. My frustration is that he doesn’t appear to be doing anything at all to help himself - which just makes him a character waiting to be saved (i.e. a damsel in distress). Now there are readers okay with this, and that’s okay but for me, it just seems like a waste of the potential of the character because there is a ton of room for him to be more of an active character to the plot rather than just being an undercover omega. Like for me, right now, his main character point is that he is a hidden omega who has suffered trauma - which the main character trait of almost 85% of omega stories. I just feels like we could afford to see more from him. It’s fine for those that don’t agree but I just hope we get more development moving forward
I think we will see more development in the future, the story has barely started and has around 35 chapters, the first season focused on establishing the setting and the situation of the throne and main characters. We just have to he patient. Besides the current emperor is pretty stupid and the country has yet to burn down and our MC is at least smarter that the current emperor so I think it will be fine when he does become the emperor. Things are just starting out now, I am sure we will see the downfall of MC's mother by the end of the story.

And Jeongyun is still on high of the new relationship and his reciprocated feelings that he can’t even see the yellow flags. And that line has continued to prover truer and truer with every chapter since. Ho-in bro just go find someone else. Nothing about this is a “Lucky Paradise”
I came back to reread this one after reading the brother Gene’s story. For those who haven’t read that one, it’s absolutely amazing. 10/10
