In guideverse works there exists an esper, a superhuman with abilities that are either biological or later developed. These superhumans are incredibly strong, but there is a price for their power. Using high levels of their abilities eats away at their bodies, and physically harms them. In order to restore their form, they need the help of a guide. Guiding, essentially healing, is typically done through physical touch or proximity, and so the most effective guiding is sex. In some works, there exists pills or drugs which can provide the same effect as guiding, but far diluted. A lack of guiding typically results in death, and each guide has their own unique guiding strength, just as each esper has their own powers.

This all takes place in a gate sub-genre (sometimes the dungeon crawling or tower climbing sub-genre), where gates to a place full of monsters have magically appeared across the globe. Espers and guides use their abilities to fight the monsters and help save the world.

I forgot to mention that guides and espers have unique compatibility rates as well. So if omegaverse works have true pairings, then guideverse works have the rare highly compatible couple. Also forgot to mention that espers who don't receive guiding typically go berserk before they die, which is a state of chaos and uncontrollable magical abilities. Hope this wasn't too much info!
