Can I just say that the MC is incredibly attractive? Like, in some panels he's purposely drawn weird but he's exactly my type with his lazy/lidded eyes and exasperated/tired face. Plus that mole is just lickable on his face ლ(´ڡ`ლ)That's not saying that I like people with those characteristics, but that in fiction this look always make them look sexy. Idk about y'all but I prefer our MC to those preening peacocks.
That being said, although Hatano-kun (the younger bro's friend who first confessed to our MC) is easily the hottest character in the manga (and he's my type too with his long hair and pretty face) his ridiculous reason of liking the MC cuz of 1 conversation 8 years ago makes absolutely no sense, even if unfortunately, it's a very common trope in romance manga, so I won't be able to root for him if he doesn't actually get to know the MC and then like him.
Did this dad just allow a stranger into his house while his daughter was there, allow her near him with supervision and allowed the two to bathe together? Because wtf that's pedo bait.
And what was the point of the rape aside from shock value? It didn't even add to the trauma and flesh it out properly, let alone the plot.
Why were the two leads drawn to each other again?
What . . .
Dang! Even though the main couple was cute, I would've loved for it to have become omega x omega with ofc Kiri-san as our love interest. It would've been so cute and broken so many typical norms. Oof, those two would've been great together.
Side note, can I just say that that asshole brat was forgiven way too easily like wtf? No MC, it wasn't just a prank; you could've been raped, hell you almost were. Plus, you were clearly traumatised later on so like tf? Too naive. Except for that, this was very cute.
Now give Kiri san their own omega partner!
Hmmmm . . . Personally I think either way is fine: you can choose to forgive, or choose not to. Either way is valid. However, you also shouldn't be so naïve that you get taken advantage of. Plus, I was more so criticizing the mangaka for depicting the attempted rape aftermath so half-heartedly and just trivializing what could've happened. Calling someone out for a crime and holding them accountable is the kind thing to do, not brush it under the rug in a way that encourages that behaviour.
Let it be known that the Penal Code of Japan calls sex with anyone under the age of 13 as statutory rape. This does not mean that 13+ is the age of consent.
Every prefecture and municipality have laws in place protecting minors from “unethical relationships” and sexual activity with adults. Depending on the prefecture, it’s illegal to have a sexual relationship with a minor below the age of 16 to 18.
Depending on the prefecture, what Tetsuya did with Tora when they were in their 20s and 16 resp. can be called illegal and rape. At the time the manga was released, the age of adulthood in Japan was likely 20 and has now been lowered to 18. Anyone under that age is a child. So, even if because of prefecture law, having sex with a 16 y/o wasn't a crime for a 25 y/o adult, he still had sex with a child/non-adult.
Finally, Civil Codes are another set of prefectural and municipality laws. They state that civil agreements are legal only between two parties that are at least 20 years-old. This means anyone 20 and older must seek parental consent before entering a relationship or marriage with someone that is at least 19 years-old.
End thoughts, Tetsuya and Tora's first time has a very real chance of being illegal and rape (if anyone knows what prefecture the manga is set in lemme know cuz I'm too lazy to check) and is 100% sex with a minor. So, I dunno why their initial ages couldn't have been 15&18 and then gone to 16&19 for sex, and 25&28 for final. Because let's be real; who else would be attracted to a 16 y.o if they themselves were in their early 20s except a pedo?
Ps. no gatekeepers need to flame my post, this is meant to educate and not as a commentary on the manga except for a decisive - it's borderline pedophilia.
Can i ask u something? Are u asian? Do u know that here is VERY normal for people with huge age gap to be in love and marry since the age of teenagers. If u wanna compare your western morals to us asian please think again. And why are u so mad its fictional are not adult enough to know whats real and whats fiction? If youre underage then why are u even reading something like this? Shouldn't that be illegal too?
Clearly you didn't read my comment where I clarified that my post is meant to educate all those confused about the age of consent in Japan and all those who're uncomfortable about the age gap. The only who's mad is you who's gate-keeping this manga and gets pissed whenever there's any criticism.
And yes, I am Asian, Indian in fact. And just because something is normalised anywhere doesn't automatically make it correct. Child marriages were normalised back in the day and they're clearly not correct. And don't generalise all of Asia, it's a continent, not a country so views and laws and culture differs everywhere. Plus, don't be pissed because the Western world got it right when they decided to illegalise child marriage. You claimed that 'here' (in Asia) that is it's very normal for a huge age gap to exist between lovers since the age of teenagers; news flash buddy, that's called child grooming and people who understand that are actively fighting to stop it. Plus, Japan has also illegalised child marriage, so just like in the West, their morals are against pedophilia. Don't insult us Asians again due to your own biases and misinformation - you'll embarrass us in front of the rest of the world and regress all the progressive policies and actions taken.
Second, do you think that just because something is fictional it's not open to criticism? People review literature, art, politics all the time. Anything in existence that's available to a public audience is open to be criticised. Manga counts as literature, so this is open to criticism. And I don't know if you've noticed, but it's a common theme in manga and anime to have teacher-student romances; that's called child grooming and child abuse due to pedophilia and power-imbalance, so yes, I will provide information for all those confused by the age of consent laws. Besides, fiction is always rooted in reality. Perhaps YOU, aren't mature enough to understand that. By the way, no I'm not underage and it's not illegal for me to read this.
Next time, don't engage in a discussion when you have no idea what it's even about in the first place. Next!
Maybe so, but having sexual relationship with a minor still isn't something morally correct. Plus, like I've stated in my original comment, my comment is meant to clear up the confusion in the comment section about what the age of consent is in Japan, not talk about whether the manga is acceptable or not.
Am I the only thinking that the new chapters are just dropping in quality? An ability to cut through the past? Really? A vampire? Are you serious? The characters here are playing 6D chess to the degree that the author just explains whatever bs happened through a 'clever' character like Dazai, Ranpo, Mori or Fyodor because the plot wouldn't actually make sense through logic. These characters are smart due to plot convenience, not cleverly written like Light, Erwin or even Lelouch.
I think it's a case of far too many absurd actions happening with their explanations making very little sense. All I'm hoping that unlike the Fyodor arc, all the actions take won't be 'cleverly' explained by Dazai because a logical explanation doesn't exist. Basically, plot convenience is the main issue. Plus, an ability that can cut through time? Really? I don't even want to get into the logistics and paradoxes of that. The story is clever just because it's supposed to be clever, not because it's written that way. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ At least, that's my opinion.
hmm fair enough but i mean one of the characters can literally turn into a tiger. the other one can manipulate the world's viewpoint. another one can bring a samurai out of their phone. everything in here is absurd, time travel doesnt really phase me anymore. also, it's not his ability, it's just some sort of ancient blessed weapon, god knows what that is
But am I the only one who sort of dislikes the FL? She seems to be a very shallow person, with all her depth of character being that she's a transmigrated soul. I am actually hopeful that when Daniel comes, she'll form a much healthier relationship with him than with the other MLs. She's selfishly intervened in their lives, and yet seems to view them as nothing more than simple characters who won't be affected if she 'died'. Like, you formed a relationship with them, and somehow you think that they won't be at all affected when someone they consider a friend dies? The only thing on her mind is 'hot bodies'ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
which makes sense for a fangirl, but not if those people are her friends. If my friend was crying, I wouldn't be admiring their physique so, like what Σ(っ°Д °;)っAll she's done is be a saviour for them, she's never been a friend to them despite what her words might indicate. Her actions are incredibly cruel and I don't really like her anymore. (/TДT)/
Now I'm continuing to read to know about the original Libertia's past and for the sake of seeing Daniel. Very disappointing FL.
I don't agree, I feel her character is very childlike and naive, so she doesn't think too deeply about the consequences of her death for two reasons: 1 she knows she isn't going to die and because she is just like a child she feels removed by the concept of death and its consequences (children most of the time can't grasp the permanence of death); 2 to her they are just characters from a book.. in her mind she doesn't really belong in the story because she is not the real Liberta, so all she wants to do is save a few of her favorite people an then leave, if you ask me it's a very human response (if you were sent to the world of one of your books the only way you would survive is by making yourself believe you didn't belong and not think about all the people you left behind and won't be seeing ever again).
Your logic doesn't work because you only think in the terms "this is the real world" while she thinks along the lines of "this is the world of the book". If you don't believe me go read Miss not-so sidekick, she lived in the world of the novel for years and yet she still believed it was just the world of a book she didn't belong to (there is actually a chapter in witch she realizes that).
In the end I feel that the FL is very quite human, much more then many other iskai stories and you can absolutely feel how her own naivety can help her survive a situation that frankly would send another person insane (waking up in somebody else's body in world where you know no one and are destined to die)
Well this is my reasoning for why I like the FL and the author.
sorry for the over explanation. i disagree on some parts, i feel like her being naive is a way she's surviving, i also think that just constantly thinking that she's gonna die isn't good, like be naive and carefree instead of depressed all the time. she transmigrated into a book she read so i feel like she's thinking 'oh these are the books characters' and even if she isn't thinking like that, the book said no one liked litia so she wasn't expecting much in the first place. she just thought that if she gonna die or move in a year might as well save the people who died for ariel (i think thats the blue haired girls name).if she were shallow she wouldn't have saved any of them and just escaped the palace. her admiring his body wile he cries was a misunderstanding on her part, they did just drink alcohol so she thought it was alcohol making him express more emotions than usual (again) in the book she read he didn't express many emotions, so she thought alcohol makes people express and say more than usual, but i do admit that even if that happened for her to drool over his body while hes crying is still... weird. anyways i think over explained and i haven't seen someone comment there dislike for a character without being so rude so thank you.
Yukino doesn't owe Arata jackshit romantically and honestly I read most of their interactions as friendly instead of flirty. Yukino could just be an affectionate and kind person whose only wrong-doing was kissing Arata without his consent and thus confusing him. He was also really nice when he let down Arata and I just found him really sweet.
I feel as though another 5-10 chapters would've really elevated the story!
