Addicted to My Sweetheart
I saw this elsewhere with a different cover and title, and read to chapter 152 (end of season 1). The beginning is a bit cliche but then it takes some wild turns. All I can say is that the villains are not the typical stupid characters you think they are. I also love the different side ships, they don’t seem forced at all. And every female character has an actual personality other than being either devoted bff or villainess, even if you might think otherwise at first glance.
As for the main ship, fl is reserved and skeptical when it comes to romance. Meanwhile, ml is dumb as a brick but simps hard for fl, so he does things like making out in public or eating spicy food when he’s allergic to get her to like him, all while having a stoic face so she doesn’t realize what he’s doing for her.
Fl gets bossed around but promptly retaliates and isn’t an annoying pushover. She isn’t self sacrificing 24/7, but she also still cares about others. She also likes having people mope, worry, and grovel over her since she has a bit of a devilish side.
My Notoriously Naughty Lover
That ungrateful sister, she doesn’t help at all, gets mad at everyone except the scumbag dude, and is a two faced snake. She does change but it just irks me.
Ml is pretty crappy too. Makes her sign a slave contract if she wants her sister to stop suicide, and she has to sleep with him when he wants to because of the slave contract. The story is trying to redeem him but he’s still crap.
There Is No Place for Fakes
The father leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but atleast ml and fl are good, and fl doesn’t immediately forgive him and draws a line. Also doesn’t drag out.
The fl was competent enough to actually escape for a while. She’s also very observant. The fl has a bit of tact and cleverness and isn’t easily pushed around. The fl also usually has enough brain cells to get mad when she’s being mistreated, and she thinks and cares about herself too.
Flirty Boss, No!
2nd ml is rich, nice, stands up for her, and even left roses and chocolate on her desk. Didn’t degrade her like ml, and doesn’t sleep around with a dozen girls while getting pissed at fl for talking to a guy. But knowing these type of stories, she’ll probably end up with std ridden fuck boy and say everything is water under the bridge the immediate second he decides to settle down with her instead of sleeping around and keeping her as a side hoe. Probs no groveling either, just sad backstory at most.
She's The Older Sister Of The Obsessive Male Lead
OMG!!!! A story where all the characters actually have personalities!!!! This story deserves a 5 stars for just this alone! It has a nice balance of humor and seriousness. And it has plot and plot twists too, that aren’t just at the end of the book (unlike some other isekai).
I especially like that the mc isn’t planning on doing free labor for anyone. She sets boundaries on how much work she’ll do, and doesn’t let her brother step on her either. She pretty much treats him like a nuisance now (which he is, to be fair). She ain’t her family, her husband, and her whole country’s mama, unlike some other doormat mcs, but she still gives tit for tat and protects her loved ones.
I Became the Villain's Mother
The fl definitely had a point, the dad poisoning his son and letting him get bullied so that he’d get stronger is the reason he grew up so two faced. I like how she stood up for her child and called him out for judging him when he told her to think about his real personality. Like, feeding your prepubescent kid poison is definitely abuse considering a) you have all the antidote ever right inside of you house if he ever does get poisoned, b) it’s impossible for there not to be poisons people are resistant to (eg cyanide, can’t be resistant to your cellular respiration getting cut off), and c) logically, they couldn’t have possibly fed the kid all the existing poisons and all the newly developed poisons as well because that’s a lot of poison. I never understand why this poison resistance thing exists when literally anything we eat that could screw us over is considered poison. While I commend the fl for standing up for the child, she’s not really good for much else. Dropped this, but out of boredom though.
My Sweet Enemy, Thy Name is Husband
This ml is A tier compared to other “misunderstood” mls like Zester, Claude, and Winter. He is actually competent and has brain cells. He never screwed the fl over because of his own stupidity. It’s not that he ignored his dying wife’s pleas or neglected her, or ignored her pleas when she’d get bullied if he wasn’t there, he actually was very attentive to her even before her rebirth, and immediately went to check on her when the carriage stopped.
He knew she was killed as a provocation to him. There was no possible way for him to know who was the traitor, because even she herself couldn’t tell the brother was until she got to see it as a ghost. He only harmed people whom he thought may have hurt her to avenge her death, so he never directly hurt her but she was still rightfully angry because he started the war and killed people who treated her well and raised her her whole life, and the only reason she married him against her will was for peace. Although it was because her brother killed her, and she definitely doesn’t think the brother is a good guy, simply wants him on the right path, she saw this guy slaughter her family and loved ones, so she’ll naturally be afraid of him and build up her defenses (but still doesn’t want him to get screwed over and starts to care about him on her first day with him).
In the next life, he’s nicer to her from the moment they met, and doesn’t need to be “trained” like some other mls. He was always nice, like asking about her kiss in the last life, but dials his attentiveness and clinginess to an 11 in this life.
The ml is the type in that, if someone so much as looks insultingly towards fl, the ml will be furious. If the fl’s leg so much as wobbles, the ml will know and start carrying her. He also can’t stand the thought of her being scared or feeling troubled, reads her face and emotions well, and immediately tries to resolve her negative feelings.
Tbh, misunderstood ml trope is just not for me, but this is one of the few ones I actually kind of like.
