finally reread this for the 2nd time. and i kinda feel sorry for Chang?? I mean ofc he's a dick. but he is a sad and hurt dick. i mean i prob sympathize with him bec i also had an emotional capability of a trash can but the man is prob afraid of his own feelings and his unrequited love hgngng. but ofc him being a dick to ed is still not right. Anywayss, still one of my top tier mangas of all time (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
I felt bad for him too. Because I really try to understand their side and not judge. I feel like he lost his family and his grandmother blamed him. He was all alone and he was Chinese. Which meant that being gay would be frowned upon. So he had to hide his feelings and be a gangster. He tried to end his feelings in the only way he knew. I wish he could at least have an ending with someone that could love him and be the family that he always wanted.
i dont feel sry 4 chang at all. "he was chinese" yeon woo is korean, and being gay isnt exactly easily accepted either. chang was a grown adult. he's grown. and not only was he harboring such feelings for a kid who innocently thought of him as family, he also neglected him and put him through such a toxic relationship. Ims ry, but chang's had, lets see, yeon woo's 25, so maybe the better part of 15 years to get his act together. If not then, 5 years, since the debt started. I don't feel sorry for him at all. He's certainly dug himself into a hole, doing illegal mafia business, but thats the only aprt i feel any sort of sympathy for. I sound super cold, but none of chang's circumstances justify his actions, and while he is a tragic character, and i can see why people wud feel sry for him, let's not get into the habit of sympathizing with a rapist too much, yeah?
