It started to spread from novels and then translated into mangas/manhwas/manhuas, I don't know about KR novels And JP novels, but you can find different guide verse novels with Chinese-translated novels. There are so many of them, Translated and untranslated. The esper and guide trope started I think around when Profundis first uploaded their first chapter, it got so popular that various new manhwas sprouted with their unique level and intensity of toxicity.
