So, I have read the novel upto chapter 164 and let me tell this was a wiiiiilld rollercoaster. I did feel bad for Ahjin as his situation gets from bad to worse. Cliffnotes are: he gets addicted to drug, his mind almost crumbles (lots of non con stuffs), then he stops caring about the sweet old lady and so Seokju can't blackmail him anymore. The true mastermind (maid) just confesses out of the blue and basically tells ML that he has lost Ahjin's heart and she hoped that fact hurts him. By the time he rushes back, Ahjin attempts to take his own life by slashing his wrist. This sends Seokju to full blown panic attack and he cries and begs for forgiveness. Then randomly, the old lady shows up in the hospital, realizes what happened and stabbed Seokju (he recovers). Welp, Ahjin wakes up eventually, we have full angst course where ML begs for forgiveness and convinces Ahjin and old lady to come back to his place to back to recover (without coercion). Things are slooooowly improving and healing, and Ahjin almost forgives him but then situation takes a nosedive. He gets kidnapped by the enemy and two fingers get chopped off and sent to Seokju. Seokju is not very bright when it comes to tough situation, cuz he shows up alone, tries to rescue him, but gets Ahjin and himself killed in the process. Yes, they both die and Ahjin basically curses Seokju in his dying breath saying that this is all his fault. But that's not where the story ends...Ahjin gets transmigrated/reincarnated in the year 2023 as the son of a rich business woman....and Seokju is his secretary (hence the manhwa's cover image which is actually a spoiler lol). Upto where I read, it is still not clear is secretary Seokju knows his past life, but Ahjin does and tries to stay away from him. Sorry for the long explanation. I don't think I'll continue the story since cuz I have mentally checked out ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍
I came here cuz I heard its getting a netflix adaptation, and it did not disappoint. Initially gave me John Wick vibes since the art was really cool and noir...and i am one of those people who liked the ending since Gijun got even on his own terms.
Just wanted to see how faithfully this was adapted. I've only read upto chap 12 and while few things are done differently, kdrama's adaption is absolutely phenomenal, it made me tear up...will keep an eye out for other chapters.
I went with absolute low expectations, but then the art was what kept me going (really liked surreal uncanniness of it), few parts in the middle of the story i didnt quite get it but the ending was solid
the nuance was that at least they each died of a natural cause instead of drug/gang violence (im joking but the author probably thought they ate) gouda
