I've been reading this manga repeatedly but I still dont get it. Can someone care to explain ( ̄∇ ̄")
Like, whats this whole thing abt being eaten, why does Hiyori get scared when a demon touches him, why cant Hodaka stop when his switch is flipped?
Thanks in advance!!!

My understanding is that being “eaten” is them kissing and having s*x. Hiyori gets scared when he’s getting eaten because it’s his human instinct to be scared of a demon but it only happens with Hodaka (maybe because Hiyori likes Hodaka?). Hodaka can’t resist the smell of a human because it’s sweet and tempting (probably like hormones if this was an omegaverse?) plus he really likes Hiyori which makes it harder for him.
This is what I got from the story but I’m also confused so there might be more that I’m missing (⊙…⊙ )

I think I have the same understanding as you but still, I'm confused with the whole story line lol
Idk, somehow this affects my reading experience as i don't get wtf's happening. I don't get to enjoy it as much as other people who are commenting how Hiyori and Hodaka are cute and all which is a bummer for me (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
Thanks for writing down your thoughts on the manga! (ʃƪ^3^)

Being "eaten" is Hodaka's special way of saying he wants to kiss or have sex. If you read it again, you can see that other demons define being "eaten" exactly has it sounds; to kill and eat. So they think it's weird to say. Therefore this way of speaking is exclusive to Hodaka, a big horn.
Hiyori is a human and is using his older brother's knowledge of demons...which is pretty stupid. His older brother told him that when a demon eats a human, that a human's self defense system kicks in, making them feel good when in fact they're just scared. This is why you see Hiyori saying he's scared when he's feeling pleasure. Thing is, Hiyori feels this way only with Hodaka.
Humans smell sweet and are irresistible to big horns. It turns them on. This is why Hodaka carries Milk Candy around with him because the scent is very similar to how a Human smells. Both Hiyori and Hodaka use this excuse to fight off other big horns who question Hiyori's scent. Later on, these two found out that Hiyori's scent can be masked if he uses citrus scented deodorant or candy.

No. I'm saying the information Hiyori's brother told him was wrong. Hiyori doesn't actually know that he's actually aroused by Hodaka's touch. He only says he's scared because that was what he was taught as a kid.
Hiyori is actually attracted to Hodaka, not scared. Just like Hodaka is aroused by Hiyori's scent and wants to have sex with him, not actually "eat." Think of it as cultural miscommunication.
The story caught my attention at first, there was suspense for the first few chapters. However, um, upon finishing the manga and knowing the truth, my head cant take it. Totally not for me
