I can now see why Rei acted they way she did in the beginning of the series pouring hot water onto Shouto. Endeavor actions caused Touya to the moment he would stand, believe he would be the number 1 hero. Whenever he wanted that mindset or not, it grew on him until that became his unhealthy drive. Seeing his family grow until Shouto came with the ideal body, Touya purpose of life, his reason of being born was to become number 1 suddenly came crashing down. With Shouto birth, Touya was toss like trash, Endeavor instead switches plans to raise Shouto to be the number 1. Touya is just a child, suddenly thrown away would lead to a lot of confusion and unsupervised anger. Thoughts like ‘was I not good enough?’ ‘Was I not trying hard enough’ ‘if only Shouto wasn’t born, if only...’ and a fit of rage he charges at the newborn baby (Shouto) I assume to kill. So his position and promises he was told since he would walk would come true. After the incident, I assure anyone will be traumatized if their kid tries to attempt murder. But Endeavor pushes this under the rug and Rei has some unresolved trauma, which later affects her mental health. As years passed, assuming Touya is dead, Shouto also aspire to become a hero. But all Rei sees from half of Shouto face is Endeavor, a man to cruel to be a father, and Touya, a son to tried to commit genocide and died trying. Rei, I assume could not be sane at this point. Most of the other siblings have white hair and ice quirk but it was the attributes that endeavor carried that caused her trauma. Though it’s been a while since I’ve watched the anime and reread the manga, I assume it was a flight or fight experience she felt and chose fight when he boiled her son’s face. Realizing her mistake, she went to the hospital to seek treatment hence. I don’t see it as Touya wasn’t getting enough attention so he decided to kill everyone, or that no one in the Todoroki family for being wrong for doing nothing. I see it as the Todoroki family was a victim of Endeavor’s hopes and dreams. Touya being the first victim when despite the doctors warning about having a child just because for thier quirks. To neglecting, all the needs the children had, even Rei’s mental health to get what he wanted. But in the end Karma came back as Touya who was presume dead is a mass killer, Shouto refused to use his fire quirk, and a strain household to come home to. But none the less I am excited to see what happens from here!! ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
